Bogeyman my @$$. Ask yourself why won't they do that?
The moment there is a true polarization, the long term political windfall will be for BJP. No performance on economy- no problem, corruption- no problem. Once they become the leading Hindu protectors, no real political rivals will be there.
The only true polarization we have is from the other parties where they have specifically targeted individual communities rather than treat Indians as one. From MMS saying that first right of national resources belong to minorities to Lalus and Mayas pandering to their own groups.
What is scaring the pants out of these parties is the attempt to dismantle this "social engineering".
I believe infact that the contrary is happening. Existing polarization is being forced to break down. The country was polarized earlier which caused the country to split during our independence. This did not magically vanish all these years. Things have not been hunky dory between different communities. The other parties have been happy milking this cow to keep themselves in power with little to show in terms of development.
Now they see a different narrative and that is making them cry hoarse.
From shtting down Christmas to sudden noise around Beef Ban, these are the ground preparations for major policy modifications they want to make.
No shtting down Christmas has happened. Beef Ban you can't blame it on the central govt. Such idiotic things have existed earlier. I didn't see such noise when midday meals were taken off during Ramzan in Kerala. Nor when some priests were beaten for serving pork in their own internal feast.
This is just making a mountain out of a mole hill.
