Fuckin dumbos !!!

why??

when the western bloc especially is decreasing nuclear power plants after what happened to fukushima, indian establishment is increasing nuclear power plants... pathetic... and of course companies like areva and ge, and australia ( supplier of fuel ) are cashing in.

from ( Nuclear power phase-out - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia )...
Once a nuclear proponent, Prime Minister Naoto Kan became increasingly anti-nuclear following the Fukushima nuclear disaster. In May 2011, he closed the aging Hamaoka Nuclear Power Plant over earthquake and tsunami fears, and said he would freeze plans to build new reactors. In July 2011, Kan said that "Japan should reduce and eventually eliminate its dependence on nuclear energy ... saying that the Fukushima accident had demonstrated the dangers of the technology".[45]

nuclear power is obsolete 50's method.

the people protest, but...

from ( L&T-Areva deal will give nuclear boost to Narendra Modi's 'Make in India' plan - The Economic Times )...
Areva and NPCIL took the first concrete steps towards making the Jaitapur nuclear power plants a reality with both companies signing an early works agreement.

Blending in nicely with Modi's 'Make in India' initiative, this agreement has tremendous potential. Fo Areva which has a manufacturing deal with Mitsubishi L&T will be the second.

nice... areva uses "make in india" to break india with nuclear pollutants... the entire modi sarkaar must be tried in the "international criminal court", this time for trying to endanger the entire people of india.

We need electricity, lots of it. Renewable energy is not cheap to produce. It requires lots of infrastructure and land which unfortunately is hard to get in India. Nuclear energy is here to stay for near future. Nuclear energy is comparatively cheaper and cleaner alternative than thermal, hydro etc.
Everybody wants electricity and they want it NOW, it won't happen magically, we need to take concrete steps. This plant was envisioned in 2010, and its been 5 years no activity. This issue has been politically exploited by Sena to gain votes in Sindhudurg region. There is so much propaganda. You have to see the condition of rural maharashtra, the people are still living in the 1950's. Dirt poor, uneducated and then the politicians instead of development cheat them by creating a boogeyman out of every fuckin developmental project be it a dam, powerplant, trade policy. This plant will benefit these very people, generate new jobs, bring down load shedding.

Every damn project, everything we build on earth damages the environment and causes a little bit of pollution and has a risk associated with it. Everything from a mall to house. But we have to decide on these trade offs . The politicians fuel the propaganda created by the useless NGO types and they misguide a few tribals or poor labourers and start creating rucus. I really admire how chinese government handles this kind of situation.

It has been 5 years, this powerplant should have been started by now, but these protests have delayed it.
we should remember "POVERTY IS THE BIGGEST POLLUTER".

We need nuclear plants because our main energy source is Coal based powerplants and those are extreme pollutants thus the need for diversification. But we cannot completely fulfill our requirements right now with renewables only .
Renewables is a long term goal but till then we need these plants along with renewables right now.

About the pollution:
We recently had a guest lecture by scientist from BARC , who worked on Arihant class SSN.

It is interesting to note that unlike US which uses open fuel cycle for most of its reactors , we use a closed fuel cycle for our nuclear waste.
That means after continuously reusing nuclear fuel many time, the ultimately generated nuclear waste is reprocessed many times and then turned into vitrified glass, of which some are used for research purposes and medicinal uses such as irradiation etc. and others are dumped.
