In my past job I’ve done firmware for error handling. One flipped bit is usually not a big deal and is considered a correctable error. We just log it for tracking purposes and set it as a warning. Two or more flipped bits is uncorrectable and will require extensive error handling and system reboot. Intel actually developed a device for us to inject errors on a DIMM during testing process. Costs several thousand dollars too. What we usually do is add physical toggles to DIMM so we can manually inject errors.

I imagine that military or aerospace electronics are hardened against radiation.

But they must have far greater resistance to this as compared to a normal computer.
I remember he mentions Mars rover using a computer chip from 2000s
So probably modern resistant hardwares don’t exist
