The U.S. and Pakistan: Can This Marriage Be Saved?

Does not seem to be working

That's because of their lack of understanding that they are an extra-regional power here, which can pursue for her objective with the help and mutual cooperation of regional powers.History shows it all and is a perfect evidence.
Crossing these limits will surely make someone make a legit claim that the American objectives, are not in the security interests of the region at large.

This has got nothing to do with US politics. And just FYI, there is no one in the GOP who can mount an effective challenge to Obama.

Actually it does, considering the fact that many Americans think Obama has been too "soft" in defending America internationally, constantly apologizing to Afghanistan & other nations.

Between the lines, she seems to be saying that whatever Pakistan is asking for will likely not happen. What do you think?
We already know that....U can't expect goodwill from Devilz.......:smokin:

Does not seem to be working

It's been only one day.

A high level meeting took place with yanks at foreign office.

Let's observe the next week.

Either Pakistan will hold strong, or give in.

We are not talking about broad policy shifts but the tenor of the relationship. That fluctuates with prevailing conditions on both sides................

I see. I can agree with the fluctuation of tenor as you describe it, but as long as it is kept in mind that the substance is more important than the tenor.

We already know that....U can't expect goodwill from Devilz.......:smokin:

The Devilz? Is that a sports team? :D

The US can do all it wants, ultimately the people of Pakistan will come to power through true democracy and show it who is in charge.

Of course it is the right of the people to exercise this power in Pakistan, when they do. But until that happens, the world moves on inexorably.

pak should break off from US and stand on its own feet with its own resources..
Correction: Pakistan should keep diplomatic front open with US but stand on its own feet with its own resources.

No individual party in Parliament can afford the blame of following the US line; fortunately we too are in election year. It seems we are going for a deadlock; US too just stuck with ways to move the things around on its way. Bounty is just a tip of this frustration.

Things are not moving, instead it seems both US & Pak are moving with the things....lets wait where it takes us finally.

I completely agree with you but what actual benefit did the arabs as a nation got from israeli's except that their rulers became richer and richer..I feel dipping one's hands in mud will only make them dirty it can never clean them..

On the other hand as we all can see Pakistan never did any anti-israel act but still its being hated by them and they dont let go of any chance where they can harm our interests..
Pakistan does not recognizes Israel. And Pakistani servicemen helped Arabs during Israel-Arab wars. Are these not sufficient reasons for Isreali to hate us?

America got luck with discovery of nukes at the righ time and if it wasnt fir nukes they couldnt have.stopoed a much smaller country...japan.
Its different now..every other country has nukes..back then it was just USA.
plus its a shame if you are boasting about killing of 200,000 japanese civilians.
You need to revisit history. USA was winning without nukes.

Nukes were used to speed up Japanese surrender. Why do you think that Tokyo was not nuked first?

Not just on this forum but everywhere afterall they would not liked to be called namak haram by the whites :P

I know you are better then this...do you want me to give you instances where we have followed our national interest even though it was/is clashing with the super power??? b/w unlike you, we were never their allies...so not sure from where this question arises??

The US can do all it wants, ultimately the people of Pakistan will come to power through true democracy and show it who is in charge.

That's exactly what's happening here and the Yanks don't like it. The Yanks are angry and frustrated. The Yanks would ideally like to dictate their terms and impose their will on the people of Pakistan. The reason why anti-Americanism has reached new heights in Pakistan. Yankee pressure tactics clearly aren't working and backfiring. The people of Pakistan from all walks of life are fed up. The Pakistani politicians need to change their ways.

This hate love saga is only for gullible netizens like us..Statesmen hardly cares for such things...There is a saying - There are no permanent friends or enemies..the only permanent thing is national interests...Take the example of Russia...You actively took part in AF war so by that logic ruskies should still hate you, no???

Ask yourself few questions - what has Pak gained by not recognizing Israel?? Apart from your internal politics is there anything that is stopping you from that???...Learn from us...we made the same mistake though corrected it in 91...Today both the nations are reaping benefits...If you hate us to learn anything from us then atleast learn from fellow Muslim Nations...There are plethora of examples that will suggest you to do exactly the opposite of what is being done at the moment...

I wish Americans would stop interfering. They state they support democracy but in fact they lie and have always got on well when we have had dictators
