Overview of Chinese Imperialism
China was a darling of the third world during 1955 Asian-African Conference also known as the Bandung Conference. China was popularly regarded as fighter for freedom and an opponent to colonization and imperialism. Little did the world realize then (or did they ignore?) that the very formation of "China" itself was already questionable.
The then "China", as still is today, was so huge a country only because it took over territories and people that never belonged to her ever before. Whilst being regarded a hero by the Asian-African anti-colonials, China herself was a villain then - an imperialist in disguise.
Right after the collapse of their foreign rulers, the Manchus, China and its leader, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, shamellessly claimed over the soverignty of Tibet, Mongolia, and other territories. Chang Kai-shek followed suit and the Chinese Communists were only worse. The original "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region" was in fact an attempt by the Mongols of the region to proclaim autonomy and eventually to unite with (the independent part of) Mongolia. Established in 1947, the automous government was soon hijacked by the Chinese. The CCP also occupied Manchuria by taking advantage of Soviet-Japan-KMT three-party conflicts and wars.
Tibet is another example of deception, lieas and forceful occupation. The so called "18-point Agreement" was nothing but Chinese fraud under its military might. Main leaders of Eastern Turkestan Republic were invited to go to Peking to "discuss" the matter. However, all ended up dead in a mysterious "plane crash" on their way in early 1950s.
Too many have been happening since then and are continually happening today. Regions and peoples mentioned above and more have been suffering for decades under the Chinese colonial rule. Great demages have been done to the cultures, identity and dignity of the people of occupied territories. Yet, China never showed any sign of regret or guilt but instead she's ever more keenly dreaming of expansion and colonization.
