The General Authority of Military Industries organized today the first virtual workshop on research and technology with its military and security partners in the Kingdom entitled "Contributing to the research and development system for the military industries sector towards achieving the 2030 vision." The workshop discussed the most important developments in research and technology with the relevant authorities and working on Build national potential by strengthening the national system for research, development and innovation in the military industries sector by coordinating tasks, uniting efforts and stimulating the process of developing human capital and working with relevant authorities to align education outcomes with the needs of the sector, and what the authority seeks to increase the contribution of local products based on research and development to military spending in The Kingdom to achieve the goals of Vision 2030.

For his part, Deputy Governor of the Military Industries Sector, Engineer Qasim bin Abdul Ghani Al-Maimani, affirmed the authority's keenness to conduct its work and activate its roles in the sector, despite what the Kingdom in particular and the world in general are experiencing from the pandemic of the new Corona virus, indicating that the Authority was able, by God’s grace, to organize the first workshop A virtual research and technology work attended by approximately 40 representatives of the relevant government agencies.

Engineer Al-Maimani added: The Military Research and Technology Sector is considered one of the three strategic pillars of the military industries sector in the Kingdom, namely the industrial sector, the military procurement sector, and the research and development and technical sector, where we seek in the authority to direct the system of research and technology in the sector through support, coordination and integration of efforts between The components of the system include research centers and universities, in addition to industrial companies and other relevant parties, confirming that the authority has managed, in cooperation with its partners, to identify 21 targeted military technology that will develop and localize it during the five years Upcoming through the strategy of the research and technology sector, which will be announced soon.

For his part, Director General of Military Research and Technology of the Authority, Dr. Hatem bin Mohamed Behairi, affirmed that the Authority is working continuously in coordination with the relevant authorities to implement military and security research and technology programs to ensure the overall success of the system, such as academic and training bodies concerned with developing competencies in the sector, by creating programs Specialized educational and training.

On the 21 technologies that target the research and technology strategy to develop and localize it, Dr. Hatem Beheiri stressed that these technologies involve seven areas: electro optics, directed energy, radar, radio communication, cybersecurity techniques, electromagnetic weapons and artificial intelligence.

He concluded his speech: Through the workshop that was organized with the participation of end-users from the relevant authorities, we praise God, through the participation of our partners from government agencies, the most prominent research and technical activities targeted to support and grow the military and security research and technology system, and we were also able to introduce the targeted and priority military research and technical areas
The workshop aims to shed light on the research and technology plan and its alignment with the beneficiaries, and educate and educate the end users of the services of the research and technology sector in the Kingdom, in addition to activating the General Authority for Military Industries for its roles in research and technology.
