Khalid got it right. These nomenclatures are hard to follow, S-400 itself being the new name of S-300 last variant.
Here are the ranges :
S-400 makes use of 3 missiles : very long range 40N6 [ 400km ], long range 48N6-E2/E3 [ 200/250 km ] and
medium range 9M96E2 [ 120 km ]. The first missile it used had a mere 40-60 km in range.
The AESA detection radar range can go upwards of the 40N6 range : 500-600km.
So it all depends on what missile you get.
If more than one type can be fired by the same control station, it makes the self-defence possible,
( with short range ones protecting the system itself ) which would be very potent.
