The Egyptian MOD came in contact with “Stavatti Aerospace” - a company that upgrades and equips several American made fighter jets - for a brand new advanced trainer. Egypt was lately rumored to have been negotiating for over 20 M-346 from Italy as a part of a large package.

Stravatti responded as follows.

Stavatti Responds to Egyptian MOD RFQ
Stavatti Aerospace
October 15, 2020

On 15 October 2020 Stavatti submitted a response to the Egyptian Ministry of Defense (MOD) Request For Quotation (RFQ) for 36 Advanced Jet Trainers for All Weather Conditions for the Egyptian Air Force (EAF). The Stavatti submission consisted of Technical and Financial proposals for two potential solutions including a non-development solution as well as a new design developmental aircraft.
The Stavatti non-developmental solution consists of a single engine, two seat tandem Advanced All Weather Jet Trainer and Ground Attack Aircraft. The aircraft will feature Martin Baker MK18 or ACES 5 zero-zero ejection seats, a JPATS Category 1-8 compliant cockpit and a single Honeywell F124 turbofan powerplant. The non-developmental aircraft will feature advanced aluminum lithium and scandium aluminum alloys throughout, benefit from Friction Stir Welding (FSW) and had a proposed unit flyaway cost in the $15 Million class. Benefiting from advanced production techniques, enhanced reliability systems, systemic Built-In-Test (BIT) and an Open Avionics Architecture (OAA), the aircraft had a projected Cost Per Flight Hour (CPFH) of $4,052 with 2.95 MMH/FH.
In addition to the non-developmental Stavatti solution, Stavatti also offered the SM-31T Stiletto as potential solutions to the Egyptian MOD requirement. The SM-31T is an advanced single engine, two seat tandem Supersonic Trainer and Light Weight Fighter aircraft. Powered by a single Honeywell F125X afterburning turbofan and featuring Power-By-Wire (PBW) flight controls, tandem MK18 ejection seats and aluminum lithium honeycomb sandwich construction, the SM-31T will feature an all-glass touch screen cockpit and will meet JPATS cases 1-8. A low observable stealth aircraft, the SM-31T features an internal weapons bay and 2D thrust vectoring. The SM-31T as proposed was offered at a flyaway cost in the $17 Million class with an estimated CPFH of $3,204 and 3.46 MMH/FH. The SM-31T is anticipated to be available for production deliveries in 2024-2026. The SM-31T as proposed will be produced in the USA. Stavatti has secured Letters of Intent (LOIs) for the delivery of over 60 SM-31 Stilettos by US Allied Air Forces and was awarded the Design Patent for the SM-31 by the USPTO on 23 July 2020.
The Stavatti proposed solution consisted of aircraft alone as well as a comprehensive advanced air training solution that included new aircraft, Ground Based Training Systems (GBTS), spares, ground support and handling equipment, external stores and Contractor Logistical Support (CLS).

One must consider that the US rejected to supply Egypt with 20 F-35s to maintain Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge. It’s unlikely Egypt would receive any SM-31s.
@Gomig-21 how about a stealth trainer for a not so stealthy frontline fleet? Sounds like a Next-Gen trolling level.

Brohand, that's because we're getting the 7th gen INVIS aircraft and just skipping the 5th and 6th altogether. Stealth and all the over-hyped stuff about LO and VLO lol will be a thing of the past since nowadays, ground radars are so powerful and sophisticated that they can actually quite easily pick up stealthy and VLO AC but against other fighters, stealth is somewhat worth it until the 7th Gen which will be known as INVIS, as in INVISIBLE!

I like those CGI shapes. They look like a cross between the SCARAB drones we have and F-5s.

Egypt should order 50 T-50 Golden along with 50 M-346 and don't wait for these concepts to get mature.
