Portuguese special forces to receive Polaris ATVs
The Portuguese Army's Logistics Command has ordered nine Polaris Defense 4x4 all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) for the Special Operations Force (FOE), the army told Jane's on 9 February.
The contract is worth EUR359,965 (USD384,500) and includes seven Sportsman MV 850 MILITARY TAN quad-bikes and two MRZR 2 MILITARY TAN two-man ATVs. It was placed with Corpdefense, the local representative for the US firm. Deliveries are expected to be completed within 100 days.
The FOE is also expected to receive 12 of the 167 4x4 light protected tactical vehicles being acquired as part of the Viatura Tática Ligeira com Blindagem (VTLB) programme.
