She is an opportunist and runs towards the votes only without any principled stand, so far a consolidated Muslim votes of 25%-30% and some more from all other communities securing her victory, but due to her constant & blatant Muslim appeasement and frequent riots where even her government and police show partiality towards a particular community; Bengali Hindus are slowly but steadily turning into hardcore sanghis....she has already started some public display of puja-path, etc., now as and when Hindu votes start going against her in significant numbers..which apparently has started already, and she feels threatened to lose power; she can actually swing to become a super hindutvadi overnight and give Yogi Adityanath a run for his money..err..Hindutvad! What is going in her favour is the lack of opposition, Congress is nothing in Bengal, CPM is dead horse, and BJP suffers from lack of credible leadership.

Mumta can try playing the two communities due to the lack of any serious political opposition.

I prefer Mumta to continue her pro Islam stance to her grave. If she polevaults - that will be bad and a mark of politician with no ethics.

I think that is a fair assessment of the situation. She has no leanings apart from the pure exercise of power politics. That had been her whole career - climbing the ladder to political power through trial and error populism. If she assesses that public opinion is swinging, she will become more Hindutva than the RSS.
