Adjacent to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer of Rajsthan in India, there was a state called Amarkot, in today’s Sindh. Amarkot was 90 % Hindu during 1947 and still is Hindu majority.

The 24th Rana of Amarkot, Arjun Singh died in 1947, his son and the 25th Rana Chander Singh Sodha(1931-2009) merged his state with Pakistan.

Even today Ranas of Amarkot have live matrimonial alliances with former Indian Princely States of Rajisthan. The male members of Rana family marry in India and their daughters are also married in India. The present Rana Hamir Singh holds big influence in the 22000 sqkm area along the border including Tharparkar.

During Partition Jawaharlal Nehru had specially gone to Amarkot to extend invitation to Rana Arjun Singh Sodha, to get associated with Congress Party. He conveyed Nehru in no unclear words that there had been a long association with the Muslim rulers of India and he would prefer to be with the Muslim League.
Rana Arjun Singh was given a mission by Quaid e Azam of convincing Maharaja Hanwantsingh of Marwar ( Jodhpur ) , Maharana Bhupalsinghji of Mewad ( Udaipur ), Maharaja Sawai Mansingh of Amer ( Jaipur ) & Maharaja Pratapsinh Gaekwad of Baroda to also join Pakistan. He went first to Maharaja Hanwantsinghji of Marwar who readily agreed to his offer. Thereafter , he went to Udaipur & Jaipur who were not really convinced but sort of confused. He then came to Baroda & met Maharaja Pratapsinhrao of Baroda with his offer on behalf of Quaid e Azam. Merger negotiations were at full steam then at Baroda. Later Lord Mountbatten intervened and coerced the states to join India.
All the children of Rana Hamir Singh are married with the Royal families of Rajisthan and vice versa. Below his son taking the Royal baraat to Jaipur, India.

The Ranas of Amarkot (Umarkot) have served in different positions in the Centre and the province. Their Loyalty and patriotism is unmatched. They still have vast influence in the Royal houses of Rajisthan ,through matrimonial relationships. Had they been successful in 1947 ,a very big chunk of India would have been part of Pakistan.God bless them and their family.:pakistan::pakistan::pakistan::pakistan:

. . . .
yup, a perfect example of how british made pakistan :cheesy:

regards

.
They actually had little possibility of joining india:
No bro their jagirs in Amarkot were near the border, roughly 46 sqKM, but it was their influence that spanned over 22000 sqKM in Sindh that mattered the most, from Mirpur Khas to Tharparkar, mostly in the Hindu dominated areas. The Muslims in the border areas also respected them too.

We are Proud of him . Thanks to him as well
We are not only proud of them but we love them as well. Always stood like a wall of steel for Pakistan.

Amarkot was surrounded/landlocked by the Sind province. So that didn't give much scope for Amarkot going to India.

Baroda was never interested in Pak. The ruler was a Gaekwad - a Maratha. The only Rajput ruler who considered joining Pakistan was the young ruler of Jodhpur. No one else seriously considered it.

If Hanwant Singh Rathore joined Pakistan it would have created a chain reaction among other neighbourly states. All these Rajput princes were related to one another someway or the other.
Their power diminished in joining the Indian Union.

Hanwant Singh later died/killed in mysterious circumstances.

Jodhpur was in the middle of Rajisthan , the neighbouring states of Jaiselmir and Udaipur would have relented.

Others may have considered it. They are all related. But usually they follow the lead of Jaipur and Udaipur, the two major Rajput princely states. Yes, royalty was completely abolished by Indira Gandhi. What about Pak? Are they still officially given their royal titles?

as far as I know personally and told by elders that in a consensus held prior to the partition of the India the majority of the Hindus and Muslims of tharparkar voted for the merger of the Tharparkar with India and they favoured Congress, it was then Syed GM and his companions namely mehar Muhammad Ali ,Din Mohammed and Khan Mohammed wasan ride on the backs of their horses and they went to each and every corner of tharaprker and specially to the Muslims . GM Syed's exect words to Muslims were , o peoples of thar if you want the interferences of Syed ul ambia s.. a. w on the day of judgment for Allah's sake support and vote Muslim league , on the other hand it is said that Rana chandar Singh was so anti Muslim that he during all his life had a rule and that rule was that he never allowed any Muslim to show him his face at the beginning of the day at dawn, due to his this hatred the jam Sadik CM Sindh one day flew in his helo went straight to his house rushed to his bedroom and said O Rana ! you don't want to see a Muslims face in morning now see a Muslims dick and he was holding his paints down, the second thing which Rana chandar Singh said openly about Muslims in NA was that Muslims don't keep their promises even after swearing on Quran but I will keep my promise because I am swearing on the my moustache. The fact is this that they didn't had any chance other than remaining with Pakistan and presence of large no of Hurr Mujahids in thar was another reason of this annexation,

Brother where did you cook up such a narration. Agreed rival local politician dont get along with each other and hence we have numerous stories floating around. The fact is Rana Arjun Singh ,his father tried his level best under the guidance of Quaid e Azam , to convince the neighbouring Rajput states to merge in Pakistan. This is well documented in History.
