As for the topic, when Copts to whom these artifacts belong as the descendants of ancient Egyptians will have a larger role in shaping modern day Egypt, perhaps then, this issue can be revisited.
They (the Copts) might even take better care of it, as it is their history, and not the proverbial cash cow through which forex is squeezed through for the current (and past and even before that) power clique. You probably know what i'm talking about when i say tourists-cash cow.

People keep forgetting how Egypt's heritage was so well respected not only in the medieval times by Islamic invaders, but even in modern times when Mubarak thrown out and Egypt got engulfed in chaos. Innumerable pieces of art and history got lost forever - and that happened just two years back!

I'd say let it remain where it is safe, at least people will know that something like that existed once, than losing it forever. May be in future Egypt can ask back for it when it becomes a stable country.
