I think this is part of negotiations for the Taliban. They know well that the Americans are not trying to negotiate with them because they feel that's the right thing to do.

The Americans are doing it because the war has been raging for nearly two decades with no gain for the Americans. These wars have exhaused the US and has given space to China to catch up with the US. Just look at the international dominance the US enjoyed when it incaded Afghanistan and today.

So the Taliban have seen weakness and are simply trying to get the most out of the negotiations by coming from a position of power.

Watch out, NLI is much more lethal then Taliban. They kick out TTP from FATA.

Pakistan should make a quality movie on the crown jewel of NLI, Havaldar Lalak Jan the recipient of Nishan-e-Haider (RIP).
It should be a sort of biography that covers his life in the military, participation in war, martyrdom and recovery of his dead body by the special forces. The tale of his bravery and resolve is one for the books and would put many war movies to shame.
