A diverse military unit started in 1831, the French Foreign Legion is comprised of many foreign nationals as well as some French Citizens who are highly skilled in military combat. This group of dedicated soldiers was specifically created to give an opportunity for foreigners to serve their country. The French Foreign Legion prides itself in not only its military training, but also in its ability to foster support, teamwork, and group cohesiveness in a group of soldiers with various different cultural backgrounds and beliefs. First used during the French Conquest of Algeria, the Legion was set up to act as supporting defense in the 19th century for the French colonial empire. Since then the military unit has been involved in countless wars including the Franco-Prussian War, World War I, World War II, as well as the Gulf War.
The Gurkhas - the group of legendary Nepalese warriors with undeniable loyalty, ambition, and ferocity - are always ready to take on any battle no matter how grim the outlook may be. During the Gurkha War in 1814, the British East India Company invaded Nepal and was taught a valuable lesson by the Gurkhas: never underestimate your opponent. Impressed by their combat skills and sheer bravery, the British offered to hire this band of fighters to fight for them. These talented troops went on to fight for the British in World War I as well as World War II. After India finally gained its independence and segmented in 1947, the Gurkhas soldiers were split between British and Indian forces. Not only that, they exist in Nepal and Singapore as well even the United States Navy employs Gurkhas because of their astonishing courage and outstanding military expertise.
