The King who tricked Hitler

A new documentary on History for those interested about some underreported events of WW2

Both Mussolini and Antonescu got screwed by the Monarchs of their respective countries. Though this decision saved Romania from a similar fate as Hungary. But both examples proved why Hitler opposed having a second power center beside himself (in Germany). At least Antonescu was executed by firing squad. Mussolini got it bad.

Mussolini deserved it, Antonescu did not. He was a military man, decorated in WW1,devoted to his country, his written orders to troops not to kill, rape or maime civilians are still on record.

Mussolini deserved it,
Lol that's the first time I heard that one. Usually Mussolini is the one vindicated and Hitler gets all the blame  .

Yeah Antonescu was a patriot. Too bad he had a falling out with Horia Sima and the Iron Guard.

Because Antonescu, despite propaganda, was not all right with death squads killing political opponents, nor with Jews hanging on slaughter houses hooks.

They still tried to shame him by refusing to give him a military firing squad.

Yeah they definitely went overboard. Even the Germans thought those guys were crazy.

but he was a Nazi.
No,he wasn't. He was never part of any fascist or national socialist movement. He was a military man through and through who was given power in the country's darkest hour when the king couldn't cope and fled.

Antonesco adored Hitler and would have done anything for him.
in a hypothetical situation if Germany had won the war, Antonesco would have been the biggest villain for Romanian people.

LOL. ...where do you pull this stuff from? He told Hitler since the first meeting that he doesn't accept the Viena Diktat and, after the war against the USSR, he would take Northern Transilvania back....by arbitration again.....or by force of arms.He was one of the few men Hitler actually respected. He still consulted the representatives of political parties even though he had absolute powers.
