Here in Germany when every rape from India gets to be the 2nd or third newsitem, the exchange between India and Pakistan was the 7th news item on radio while driving my way to work


I think this reeks of a general anti-dark people prejudice in the global discourse, which mostly is generated in the West...as if no matter what dark people do, it cannot be of global relevance

Ugh! Yes, Rape will be reported as 2nd or 3rd news item. It has nothing to do with "Anti-Dark" or whatever you are trying to think in that fashion. It is much simpler than that. You (if you are living in NA or Western Europe), are living in Post Feminist world. A world where women are major consumers of news. A world where women are also a major consumer of everything. Also, Germany recently had her own share of sexual assults done by foreigners/refugees. In all, German population --read German women-- were a bit more sensitive to these issues. Rape is a much more intimate assult and it is much much higher on the "Things that worry me" list of a German consumer --again, read German women.

On the other hand, India and Pakistan have a history of a number of posturings and no war and few largely forgettable wars --from an EU perspective. Not to mention, neither of the nations have enough firepower to cause a world ending war. Here is a hint. Between India and Pakistan there are about 300 nuclear bombs, each with 50 kt yield. That is 1.5 mega tonnes if all went together. Nothing that will impact anyone in EU. Lastly, you had UN, US, Russia and China minding you. They have done it well previously and kept both of you in line.

Now take a war which involves US itself and drags Russia and China. There is NO FUKKEN POWER that can stop such a war. And yes, this war will spill over into EU, wather EU likes it or not. So it does impact EU. Not to mention, US and Russia have enough weapons between them to cause a global catastrophe. Lastly, world has seen a history when such a conflict has happened or world has come close to it.

So my friend, it is not simply a question of color of skin. It is a question of if you can impact those who are reading the news. A rape can. They have seen some refugees do that to them very recently. A war between Pakistan and India? No one will miss their morning coffee in Germany. Upgrade to 10s of megatonne bombs, develop ICBMs in number, get involved in NATO like entanglements and you will see that your each and every step or mis-step will be reported.

doesn't make sense when rape news within Germany is routinely suppressed by the mainstream media...the Köln spectacle was completely supressed by the media for 5 straight days before viral social media videos forced them to confront it...why bother about rape on the other side of the world when you donot want to report rapes within your own borders?

Yes, news is suppressed everywhere when local interests are involved. Ask Hollywood. Before entire #MeToo happened.

But when no local interest is involved, Rape news sells really well and is promptly reported.

Even i living in Pakistan knew nuke threats are just bollocks and when it came to these threats, it was clear neither side had any interest in further physical clashes but political bickering and chest thumping. It was obvious Pakistan was interested in de-escalation and our PM repeated pacifism several times. India was humiliated with Abhinandan and any further clash would have been a political suicide for Modi.

The February attack happened without any warning and God forbid, nukes would be deployed without warning too.

Besides, Iran is a serious and different situation because they have declared a conventional war. Top Irani general has been killed whereas it was just the usual skirmish between Indo-Pak without any deaths of top generals. This situation is very humiliating and insulting to Iranians. I guess people really consider Iran to be such a loser that the death of their general is nothing and not serious?. It's a well recognised country and not just Al Baghdadi ISIS that nobody gives two rats about. Even our Dg IsPr gave a statement anticipating and probably after communications with US-Iran.

Everyday soldiers get martyred or sent to hell on LoC and nobody blinks an eye. This is something really sad and i have talked about a lot. Even our news channels give them any importance. Why the hell would Europe of care what two third world countries do

I assure you (with a decent portion of family tree in Germany) that NO ONE/Very Few in present day Germany even remember or knows about this forced conversion. Heck, most young Germans these days are going "Secular".

Huh.......is it not normal that we will report more about issues that concerns us than others that doesn't relate to us or which are far away from us?
Moreover, it's normal for humans to also talk more about themselves or those related to them that others who don't share much with them . Additionally. Humans have always favoured wealth as well. For example how many times have you seen a Pakistanis/Iranian/Turkish or any Muslim country in the region brews channel talking about war in war torn poor Congo ( a conflict that is consider to be the bloodiest since the end of WWII, with over 5-6million killed so far and counting ). Do your news channel also report regularly about events and killings/rapes there? Obviously NO. I'm sure most of you don't even know much about a war there. Lol. Same with many other poor war torn countries in Africa. Compared to example if a similar conflict was being fought in a wealthier country like say Qatar/KSA then you will hear more about it . Realities of the world we live in. Lol
So as you can see it's quite normal for human beings to act that way. So I don't see why some you are fond of playing the victim/race card all the time without looking at things from another perspective
