Unfortunately thats not the case in case of sub continent in general and Pakistan in specifically to Pakistan ... at time of british invasion they were few thousands only but they capture areas by making alliance with worst people who betrayed there motherland and people and return of this betrayal britishers alloted them land and made them chaudhey, wadera and khan ... have you ever wondered from where these land lords came ? They were opportunists they provided man power to kill there iwn favour to get land from britishers and britishers were very generous ... crulest the man higher they benefits they gave ...

So all the landlords of that period collabarated and are now have all the power in pakistan ... they are in parliment .. they mostly join judiciary and armed forces ... they are the real establishment ... the only to deal with them is not rule of law as they are the law maker but the rule of justic ... these morons are so much in control of current system that no one can harm them unless we have RS type professionals in every key organization ... but these morons will try everything to not let this happen and will supress all the merit based individuals in the very start ...

So i disagree that the corrupt lot we saw in gov dept ... courts ... parliments and police station are representative of our population ... no they are minorities ...

Non.corrupt people are just silent as of now but once they loose their patience there will nothing left ... no establishment ... no armed forces ... no land lords and probably no country ...

Problem is you are talking from POV of modern world, country, motherland etc British were not the first one to invade with "local" people in their army. Turkic empires used to recruit afghan/pakhtun in large numbers. Same pakhtuns will later on form dynasties when others declined. Sur Dynasty, Abdali empire, and Lodi which combined lasted 140 years.

Like Kasuri pathans in punjab came with Mughal Babur. They helped him dislodge Lodhi who was also pakhtun and in return were granted land in Kasur.

There are no delusions. "Deehtai" in Urdu is the proper word for whatever it is. Incidents happen and we forget about them without learning anything from them. Struggling in present, living in the past and no plans for future, welcome to Pakistani dream and way of life.

Couldn't agree more and I know a few families which still have large land holdings. One such guy in our area has a village named after him (If I remember correctly he had about 700 acres of land in the area, just one guy!). These families have been selling their land to small farmers in order to maintain lavish lives and fund political careers. Hence their influence has been eroded.

Agreed. But as above their influence is eroding slowly but surely. Small to medium size industries do wonders to lift people out of not only poverty but from influence of these people. The next factor is urbanization. While people in villages are influenced greatly by these landlords (probably the entire village will vote for whoever the chaudary will say etc), in a city this is not the case as people are more educated as well as independent.

I will not agree with this entirely as when you go and buy grocery there is dishonesty on how each product is described as well as giving less measure. These things are done by the majority of the traders and these people have nothing to do with the elite. So I say people are to be blamed equally.

I agree but previously influence of such persons was limited to the area allocated to them but with introduction of democracy now those crooks have influence over whole country ...

You might be right but wrong as well ... you have rightly identified that majority of traders are doing trade by lying but you have ignored that there are also plenty who are not getting into business like this ... a plenty of population want to stuck with low paying but honest mmeans of income thats why i am calling them silent majority ... for example alot of farmer do not lie but middle man do .. so normally we dont notice honous farmer but middle man .... anyways this is just a point of view others can differ and reality can also be differ

Agreed. Farmers produce and I don't see a more honest labour then that although there would be some bad apples but majority will do their job honestly and would be happy to get a fair price for the produce.
