Qari Fasihuddin Badakhshani also known as ' Conqueror of the North' and ' Conqueror of Panjshir' is the Taliban commander and current Chief of Army Staff of Afghanistan. He actively participated in leading Taliban forces in the attack on North and on the remaining resistance holdouts in Panjshir Province.

In 2015 the Afghan Ministry of Interior falsely claimed that Qari Fasihuddin has been killed with 40 of his men, but the claim turned out to be propaganda. Even recently the Northern Alliance spread the false rumour of his death.

He belongs to the Tajik ethnic group, speaks most of the dialects of the North. The Central Asian Republics fear him the most as he belongs to the same community and has close links to the separatists there.

Under his leadership, the Taliban conquered provinces like Badakhshan and Panjshir, which they never held. He is a down to earth person, who spends most of his time in the field with his foot soldiers.

Taking someone's piety and non-corrupt nature to extend to a larger 'model' for EVERYONE else to follow would inevitably lead to a non-corrupt, 'pious' society of no music, no colors, no nothing! MODERATION is the key! Pakistanis are very religious and yet not extremists on the whole, despite a tiny fringe which is like the TLP. Even a 'mainstream' political party in Pakistan, Jamaat e Islami, is far more enlightened then the extremes of Saudi Arabia, Iran and, yes, the Taliban.
Pakistan remains a largely Sufi Islamic country. Pakistan can't be a Turkey. But Pakistan shouldn't be an Iran or Saudi Arabia either!

Good point, he commands more men than many neighbouring countries to the North. His army has the latest US weapons in his arsenal. With a decent airforce he can challenge many minnows in the neighbourhood.
