The history of the Reconquista was a 781 year journey. It was the story of Christian Kingdoms fight against Islamic Spain. But it was a dynamic changing event that progressed through the centuries. We start with the History of the Kingdom of Asturias, the story of Pelayo, the battle of Covadonga, and the start of the war of Reconquest.

The history of medieval Spain and the Reconquista continues. Asturias breaks up and becomes the Kingdom of Leon. Under her kings, the fight between Christianity and Islam continue. Gains are made, but then the War of Reconquest is held up in its tracks by the power of Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba. However, even the great Caliph Abd al-Rahman III faces defeat at the hands of a Leonese King - Ramiro II.

The struggle between Christian and Muslim states of the Iberian peninsula continue. The great Umayyad Caliphate of Cordoba crumbles and gives the Reconquista a chance to go from the defensive to the offensive. In the Northeastern portion of the peninsula, the Kingdom of Pamplona comes into being under her shrewd King, Sancho III. In time she will become the Kingdom of Navarre and will add her own chapter to the war of reconquest.
