The History of Peshawar

.
It's not that defeat defines us. Everybody at some time have been defeated. It is how you fought, who you fought and how to took defeat that separates the "men from boys".

For instance one of the favourite comments of Indians is Pakistan Army has lost every war it has fought in the last 70 years. Overlooking the truth of this comment but did you now that the feared Wermacht or the German Army lost every war in the 20th century? But boy did they not go down fighting in epic battles.

You are right on that but i am particularly talking about the mentality. I have seen Friends who claim “unlike others” we were never defeated. And i tell them even those “others” defeated us. You see, the wars we lost were due to internal rifts and struggle for power. Study every war and you will see that Pashtoons were split. They fought from both side. Thats what really matters. Against the army of Ranjeet singh. 4 major Pashtoon leaders were leading armies against ranjeet singh army. When ranjeet saw he cant defeat them. He bought them. 2 of the 4 took money and 2 rejected. So the 2 who took the money then fought against thise 2 who rejected. And even poisoned one who then died due to that. Our history is full of traitors.

Beautiful.

Purushapura sounds lame though. No offence. Peshawar is much better.

Are there Buddhist or Hindu temples in Peshawar now?

Did the Sikhs ransack it?

Off topic...
Long time ago in a different thread u claimed something along the lines that the leaders of the movement of Pakistan asked the Muslims to take up arms...for which I asked for proof and u said u were going to provide it. It's been a long time since...where is the proof?

Read about the famous national guard or azrail bahini. My granddad was a member.

So the first link describes discrimination faced by the Hindu minority in what was then East Pakistan(Post Independence). This is a broad and complex topic in its own right that can be discussed at length elsewhere. This isn't the topic of discussion. Ur claim specifically was that the Muslim leaders told the Muslims of the subcontinent to take up arms. To which I said something like, I never came across any speech(or other such things) by the forefathers of the Pakistan movement(like Jinnah and other Muslim Leaguers) who said anything along those lines. So based on that above...the first link still fails to provide evidence in support of ur argument.

As for the second link...it's about the Noakhali riots...the closest thing I found is this...
"In 1937, Gholam Sarwar Husseini, the scion of a Muslim Pir family, was elected to the Bengal Legislative Assembly on a Krishak Praja Party ticket. However, in the 1946 elections, he lost to a Muslim League candidate...After the Direct Action Day riots in Kolkata, Husseini began to deliver provocative speeches, inciting the Muslim masses to take revenge for the Kolkata riots".

So whoever this Husseini guy is, he incited violence...but again he was not part of Muslim League. This is just the action of one man that has nothing to do with the Muslim leaders who spearheaded the Pakistan movement.

So my point still stands...the leaders/founding fathers of Pakistan conducted themselves professionally/maturely/humanely. They didn't want any violence. The violence that did unfold was unfortunate and was the work of animals. Pakistan's founding fathers had no part in it.

So is India's history. Both countries are intertwined. The British loved the idea of spitting India to use Pakistan as a a tool to counter India's rise....a role that you still do not fully comprehend..
