The H-4 SOW Terminology

The S400 system and Lone Rage AAMs like Meteor do undermine the utility of the H2/H4 series of weapons due to the need to keep Line of Sight(LOS) to the target until impact - making the host platform vulnerable for longer than it should be.

Not sure what inventory levels Pakistan has of the H2/H4 series - but if they could be upgraded with GPS/INS and Terminal guidance then they may still have value - if not - then time to dump them. It could be a project that could be "oursourced" to industry to see if they can come up with a solution ...

What is required is SOW that don't need guidance all the way to the target by the launch platforms. Raptor-III is a possible solution ( if it comes with TOT ) but given that Pakistan has developed the Babur and Ra'ad series and had both H2/H4 were locally manufactured under "TOT", Pakistan should learnt some lessons by "now" and should be able to develop its own variant of the Raptor-III or similar SOW at much lower cost ...

H4 can be programmed to deliver to the target as an option; there are multiple targets designation you can prioritise and it will deliver without input; however datalink is there too in case as a backup or prefered mode.

I wonder what will replace that capability when the Mirages are retired.
Nothing. H2/H4 were designed in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s when serious questions were being raised as to the PAF’s ability to penetrate Indian airspace bh 2010.
With the arrival of the Thunders, Vipers and now new J10’s that’s no longer an issue.

PAF should induct Raptor-III with local production.
This. IMO, the Raptor-III is the most natural successor to the H-2 and H-4. It offers the same heavy warhead carrying load, but with fire-and-forget capability and longer range (280 km thanks to the miniature turbojet). I think a JF-17 could carry two Raptor-IIIs (or as we hope...H-6).

Thats lame way of thinking.no matter what people say
India has closed all loops in its airdefense and now has a one of the best layered airdefense
Only standoff weapons will work..this is what we saw recently..PAF didnt tried to use non standoff weapons
