The future of the Pakistani Diaspora and cultural and political links with the motherland

Pakistani Diaspora has at least 2-3 or if in some cases 4 generations of people living abroad Pakistan as a state has existed for close to 70 plus years however culturally, socially, economic and political wise we have been stagnant our disapora enjoys many success and failures as time and assimilation seeps in the diaspora mainly in the Anglosphere(US,Canada,Australia,NZ) and etc do you think future generations of Pakistanis will maintain links with their motherland or will it wither away due to the stagnant position Pakistan faces

Good question, as someone who's 2 sets of grandparents have passed away and due to increased responsibility here in the UK I do find myself visiting pakistan less and less. I do see assimilation occurring around me albeit slowly.

My peers only visit pakistan frequently if they still have substantial family to visit. The other thing is due security which has improved in recent years and due to lack of law and order many previous generations were put off buying retirement homes in pakistan for example so they brought retirement homes in other places say Turkey or Spain and their kids and grandkids visit them there and grow up not knowing much about pakistan.

Patriotism, sense of identity not being a cosmopolitan rootless wage cuck and have hope for the motherland to grow

Your patriotism should be for America where you were born and raised.
Your sense of identity should be American.
And if you think you can not be patriotic to America - a country which gave you refuge, a place where you were born and raised then sorry buddy, you will never be patriotic to Pakistan - a place where you would feel like an alien.

As for cosmopolitan stuff, may be try some country side if you don't like New york city life.

Why are you on PAKISTAN defense forum then?

Its the responsibility of parents/guardians to keep them connected with the home country.
The connection with Pakistan shall remain strong even if culture changes which it does. italian irish, scottish americans all feel connected that will be the future for Pakistanis as well.

Surprising results. White and Black people stick to their own race the most.

The future of Pakistani links to its diaspora completely rely on Pakistan.
If Pakistan manages to make itself a developed and open society, the diaspora will openly associate with it.

If it stays the way it is..... well I tell people I am Pakistani but I really have no desire to live there are absorb its culture.

.
It will take a very long time though since most Pakistanis are fairly practising Muslims. Only when the Pakistani communities in the West become mostly irreligious will the majority start inter marrying with the local populations. I can't see this happening for a while...our religion pretty much prevents us from assimilating into the native population
They are beginning to inter marry now, apart from which a lot of 3rd/4th generation immigrants are beginning to integrate and become more secular.
Give it one more generation from now and things will become a lot clearer.

Its easy for all of us living or born and bred abroad to say we are patriotic about our country but are we going to fix it or be associated with it is the main question

The link can never be broken. Im a Proud Pakistani working in America. My home IS Pakistan.

When did you immigrate

I notice the same trend here in the States as well one is they become more secular or become more religious

I was born in Pakistan. I have an emotional link with it for that reason. Take away that emotional bond and I begin to see Pakistan for what it is, an unjust uncaring backward country, where people don't matter and life is cheap.
My children who weren't, have no such emotional link. For them the UK is their homeland.

These are hypotheticals. You live in the world you find yourself in. This can happen to any person living in any country. It happened to our fathers in their own country not so long ago, a country they had called home for multiple centuries and generations. It's happening to the Indian Muslims as we speak are they running to other countries?
If the scenario you paint came to pass, do you think they could run to Pakistan and be at home?
In what would essentially be a foreign country whose culture they do not understand and whose language they don't speak fluently and in some cases not at all.
A country where the average Pakistani doesn't feel secure?
I was born in Pakistan and have lived in Pakistan for extended periods, even I can't come to grips with Pakistanis, their culture and their morality. My children would have no chance.
That would never be an option.
They are culturally, linguistically, emotionally British.
Britain is their homeland.
They will have to deal with whatever life throws at them as British citizens living in Britain.

I think most of the diaspora sees this and it hurts us so much.
Keep in mind we send billions of dollars to Pakistan and try to support people who would make Pakistan better.

The saddest thing is that we can't see any change for the better on the horizon. The people have to change their thinking for things to get better, sadly it's not happening any time soon.
