So his criminal past from 2009 means he is not a criminal and should not be punished for his crimes? I couldn't care less what happens to the police officer that killed the black. I feel NOTHING for both these people.

Everyone should be punished for their crimes, but proportionally and according to the law. The punishment for something he might have done in 2009 is not asphyxiation to death by a random policeman.
This man was murdered not for any crime that he committed but because policemen in the states feel they can brutalise citizens, especially black ones, with impunity, in the course of their duty. The very citizens they are paid to be protecting.
Their is a long litany of these types of murders followed up by the acquittal of policemen by biased juries in America.
That could have been me, you or anyone else.

The police officer went above his duty and murdered him. Police officers have to deal with liars on a daily basis.
Black men are dangerous when on their feet, in terms of physical strength compared to the average white man's and asian man's build.
The choke-hold that killed the black man is a general attribute of police force training.
There was no space to safely transport the black man SUSPECT, to another location, like the inside of a car.

Accidents happen. Lethal accidents, unfortunately, too.

All we can do as society is learn from our mistakes, and update our training courses for our vital personnel, when able to do so, taking into account that these people have to work with others who run on earlier versions of that training. So only so much can be changed for each new class in each school/university in each profession that upholds the general safety and civilization levels in a country.

You mean the HANDCUFFED black man who had complied with all demands of the officers was a threat to 4 ARMED and TRAINED Police Officers? Hats off to you mate!!!

The thousands of blacks who murder other blacks are not employees of the state who are paid to enforce the law and protect the public, they are criminals and they should be dealt with as such.
Surely you cannot compare the expected behaviour of policemen being paid to do their duty under the law with the behaviour of criminals.

This post reeks of racism and derogatory generalizations.

There were multiple police officers on scene and the video showed multiple police vehicles. Almost every police vehicle I've seen in the US has a cage separating the front from the rear passengers, so there was absolutely no issue with transporting the prisoner safely at any time given the availability of vehicles and several armed police officers.

This kind of racist bullshit and sniveling excuses to justify police atrocities will not be allowed.
