You are compleatly wrong.. If you do not control religion than you will make place for extrimists.. And they will love to fill that gap..
You have to control it by media, state imams and state mosques with a real program for that
History shows us that those who do not care let the gap be filled by foreign extremist who work for foreign non religious enemies..
Iron fist does not work it's oppression of even normal ppl.. You may be non religious that's why you have such barbaric archaic thoughts
You have to make peace with religion and not make it an enemy that's why radicals have a ground in such countries you have listed above.. Most of the countries you listed had oppression and brutal dictators as leaders.. The very most ppl don't search for extrimism they search for normal peaceful religion that's what most people want to have..
Look at Europe there is no oppression in religion and religion has its place in society and state
I'm speaking from my experience in the UK. It is probably the most religiously tolerant place on earth. I have watched as the government encouraged religious teaching and religious dialogue to grow.
Mosques received state funding, foreign ideologues like omar bakri and Abu hamza were given sanctuary and allowed to build congregations, the best scholars in the world were invited in, even schools and hospitals started serving halal meals.
Did the imams turn into decent citizens? No, they built their strength. The more time they had the more extreme they became - it's the natural progression.
Groups started popping up all over the place: Al muhajiroun, hizb ut tahrir, dawatul Islam even a group like Islam4UK, which wants sharia law in UK. Islamic societies at the worlds leading universities started segregating women in meetings, voting was shunned by many Muslims, the dialogue became increasingly political. Instead of appreciating their good fortune, Muslim leaders used the UK as a safe haven to lead revolt in their own poor countries... And things just got worse.
Today the UK has more extremist and radical Muslims than almost anywhere per head. 760 people physically joined isis in syria. Can you imagine that? What was missing for these people in terms of religious teaching? Even countries with the most learned scholars like KSA and Egypt have contributed 100s of Isis members.
Ataturk destroyed the religious establishment because of this same outcome. You are back at the beginning of the cycle but the end result will be the same.
People need clear rules and social boundaries, not more religious teaching.
Yes I agree that many I named trampled human rights but the mullahs do not recognise human rights either. They don't believe in free speech or freedom to dissent. So I don't know how they can use that as an excuse to justify terror.
