They might take the smart route as you say, to first destabilize the island, an then corrupt it's military staff through briberies and promises to sabotage them. Win the war without fighting.

US did something very smart and unexpected at the time in 2003. It bribed Saddams high level officers to change allegiances, and turned any capacity they had into a house of cards. Similar to what probably happened in Afghanistan this week.

LOL when the US told their Afghan allies "it's up to the Afghans to decide their future" it reminded me of those horror "saw" movies, when the criminal puts people in some weird deadly trap and tells them "live or die it's your choice" so he basically tells them: hey it's up to you to decide your future now you can either rip off some of your flesh and bones and you may live somehow or you will die.

They left Afghans who collaborated with the US alone against the Taliban now under the guise of "hey we respect your right to decide you future" " you can either stay and risk being killed by the Taliban because you helped us or you can try to climb on the tires of our airplanes, live or die your choice".

When talking about fighting spirit, Taiwan army is no better than Afghan government army. After all they are all trained by US.

Taiwan is a different story. Afghanistan is not worth to defend, Taiwan is. Afghanistan has nothing in terms of economic value while TW has everything. Biden bluntly says it, the strategic goal of the US in Hindukusch is to fight terrorism not nation building.

And here is thought only afghans get high on opioids .If Afghanistan isnt worth defending then why US and NATO were hauling their miserable arse there for the past 20 years. According to Russian and Even Pakistan Intel US brought hundred of ISIS fighter in Afghanistan solely to fightt against Taliban. TTP repeatedly attacked Pakistani targets yet US turned a blind eye if their goal was to eradicate terrorism then i guess they failed miserably. US has always promoted chaos only this time regional powers fought back and showed them their place.
