The curious case of Indian Punjabis

there are a whole bunch of stories where sikhs saved muslims and viceversa during partition. what about them ...

Then why was there a mass emigration of Sikhs from West Punjab at partition , so that today's Sikh Population in Punjab is about 1% or less ?

If so much in common , why emigrate in the first place ?

Don't see Sikhs emigrating en-masse from India .

I think Ravaan is right... punjabi sikhs share same culture etc with Pak punjabis... and punjab should have been united n given to Pakistan... where the same people wouldnt have been divided... i see Pak punjabis n sikh punjabis as fast frnds outside their respective countries.... more than a indian punjabi hangin out with some mumbai wala or some chump frm bihar! thts true.

I respect ravaans emotions... its like baluchistan.. where our people r divided... between Pak and iran!even we have the same religion... I swear to God i would love to see a united Baluchistan province with my brothers who r sitting on the other side of the fence.

Punjabis i feel ... want the same thing!

the chump comment is totally uncalled for. also there is no reason why i would not get along with someone from mumbai or bihar. the point is when i can get along with people who r so vastly different then y people who r so similar r enemies???

My family have large holdings in Punjab my grandfather who was a giant of a man, made sure all the Sikhs and Hindus working our land and who wanted to migrate were protected, he made sure they crossed the border safely, many tears were shed by both sides, that they would probably never see each other again.

And Muslims formed a large part of East Punjab - there are hardly any left now.

What about justice to the families of innocent Hindus who were killed in the wave of terrorism in Punjab? What was their fault?? Will they ever get any justice? Your case is in court of law but they do not have any case at all.. Think over it..

And I in no way mean to say that victims of 84 riots should not get justice but unfortunately they will not get justice they deserve till the time we keeping voting this sinister Congress in the center..

when did i ever say hindus should not get justice... they should perhaps raise their voice as welll

Against whom tell me.. against the masked man on bikes who sprayed bullets in open markets and ran away or against those who placed the time-bombs in toys and placed in parks amongst playing kids or against the neighbors who exploited the unfortunate event and misguided some of us.. Tell me who?????

In your case, it's rather simple as you know who are are involved.. but for kid killed in toy bomb blast I don't know whom to blame.. I can only blame his unfortunate luck to be at wrong place at wrong time.. That's it..

Point no. 2 is what is expected from every citizen of a nation, a certain amount of patriotism. It's the duty of every citizen unless of course , he is not an Indian citizen anymore in which case he has no locus standi to comment on Indian Govt 's visa policies and border fencing.

Point no .3 is a natural follow on to Arundhuti Roy type behavior . When a person is ashamed of his identity enough to badmouth it and have wavering loyalties to his country, then he is no longer welcome among his countrymen. Again nothing out of ordinary.

nationality my arse ..when your own sons fathers have been murdered ..burnt alive after pouring oil .then no one gives a rats arse..this is exactly what is happening in kashmir today..Canadians sikhs have genuine grievances ..try to use your retarded brain..punjab is our land i would anyday prefer a canadian sikh in our land than some southi or bihari ....and those who tell us to gtfo ...we will deal with them with the same language

Anyways im not talkin abt living in the same country... what im sayin is tht i have seen many punjabis frm both side wanting the same thing as ravaan... i just respect ravaans emotions thts all...

My question is if they love each other so much why the hell did they massacre each other like there was no tomorrow in 1947 and made even those who did not suffer any Partition related issues because of their enmity ?

Going by Raavan's (a Khalistani) logic ,I am from Tamil Nadu and why the hell should I partake in the woes of the Indian punjabis ? Pakistan never did anything to my state personally..But I assumed the enmity just because my countrymen (Punjabis Hindus/Sikhs) were harmed by the Punjabi Muslims during Partition...So is it not aking a fool out of us who suffrered for their sake but now we are unwanted ?

BTW these points are made specifically keeping Raavan in mind... No Punjabi Hindu or Sikh who is living in India has any love lost for Pakistan. Let me make that very clear.

isnt this how you indian hindus ((not all some ultranationlists)) justify the msulims riots after godhra .........you killed 5000 in delhi ...do you think the people in punjab would let it go ....

On the contrary indian Punjabi's were very warm towards me whenever I visited india - the people who had migrated and their children were very interested in the villages and cities they had left behind. They consider us brothers.

okay ..partition was a hindu vs muslims thing . what has sikhs got to do with it.........root of hatred is not partition of punjab..its kashmir .....

Then stop being hypocrites and cosider ur fellow hindus as enemies as well as they murdered thousands of sikhs in 1984 as well. Do you see how pathetic ur arguments are

It was not a Hidu-Sikh riot (though the Khalistani terrorists later made it one). It was a Congress-Sikh riot and FYKI Jagdih Tytler is a converted Christian.

It was the RSS (Hindu org) who saved countless innocent Sikh lives from Congress mobsters.

Get your history right.
