What's new

The Bangladesh Coast Guard is purchasing 8 Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) and 10 AW139 MSAR

Some OPV BCG might consider with helicopter hanger.

BTW what happened to the plan of building OPV with Italy??

Anyway i think we can make this type of ships easily in our local shipyard like KSY and Western Marine Shipyard. Maybe we need technical help from other countries.
Why go that far when you've us! :disagree:

Aik hath imaan do, brand new car lo.
Abhi ap ki Pakistani qoum kalima chorde do apka mulk fata fat Turkey ban jaye ga.
Bhaisaab correct grammar would be - 'outpaced us' (already). :-)

The size of our Naval assets is quite a bit larger than PN, with exception of subs and P-3 and ATR-72 maritime patrol aircraft. Maritime Patrol component is small (two Dornier aircraft) but is being increased. At least two larger Maritime Patrol aircraft (With Magnetic Anomaly Detection or 'MAD' capability) are expected join the Naval patrol component by 2022. AW159 helis also have ASW and minimal MAD capability.

it was over statement bro :P

Well I'd politely disagree. Pakistani fleet is in need of serious refurbishment and there hasn't been additions besides a few F20P and Azamat class. Given our recent acquisitions, both old and new platforms, our fleet strength is equal or better than theirs. No one is d*ck measuring, but compared to our GDP, Navy has seen more investments.

Weapon production is our priority because we are in a state of conflict + its necessary for keeping India at bay.
Coming to tonnage, we produced a 17000 tons fleet tanker at home with Turkish expertise. Our Azmat class latest batch are equipped with Babür 3 missiles. İt's not even a fair comparison.
And going by that logic, we have Swift Ships on order, Dutch Corvettes on order, Type 054 on order, Milgem in last stages of negotiations.
Your subsurface capability is nothing close to existence, air + awacs component completely missing, shore to sea completely missing.
In Economics, theres something called Opportunity Cost, we dont blindly procure or build ships.

Well - our surface fleet right now is still larger than Pakistani fleet, including OHP, F20P classes. I already said we lack sub-sea and maritime patrol components. Did you take a look at the link I provided above?

Direct comparisons are pointless. We are not on constant war-footing like your country is. Our focus is EEZ/sea-lane protection and deterrence by readiness mostly. Your focus is mutually assured nuclear destruction. :-)

Bhai no offence but Indian ships are designed and built with cost-control in mind. The builder is usually GRSE in Kolkata. Whose standards (and the materials used) are far lower in gradation than our yards. Plus our Navy will never buy Indian even if we could not build. And we can.

Lol, you are a good poster but dont act like our Indian friends and overestimate yourself too much sir.
No offence but for example you said, Two larger MPAs are joining your fleet by 2022, and by then we will have additional 8 submarines and corvettees, more FAC's etc. I mean that's not even a fair comparison given the quality and experience, we have active sea based cruise missiles, P3C's, fully network centric capability etc and lot more and it'll take a lot of time for BN to catch up and I wish them good luck in their ambitions.

Don't worry bro this isn't the kind of d*ck measuring that Indians do here. This is just a normal discussion regarding the number of ships in each fleet. I think the point that Pakistani members are trying to make is that with AWACS/MPA/Anti sub assets(P3C Orions)/Surface fleet/Subs/Coastal assets(radars, missiles)/Naval jets, its a more complete picture in terms of Naval warfare capability. Just going for more surface ships and not having submarines or not having AWACS/MPAs etc. can be devastating to a Navy during a war. The AWACS/MPAs are Force Multipliers while submarines are crucial A2AD assets

Ur Navy should look into procuring subs, MPAs etc. to become a lethal fighting force with no weaknesses.

Personally I would be happy to see Bangladesh develop into a power in its own right...and given ur current growth u guys will surely get there one day:enjoy:

P.S. yes our Navy is still in need of refurbishment...since our neighbor has a huge Navy...and in most cases PN is the last of the three branches to receive any attention.

No country with a defence budget of India would build military ships with cost control of materials in mind.
You should argue that our ships have less technology than the others in this thread, which is also debatable.

It's built by Goa Shipyard and is 105m with 2400 tons and can essentially transform as a warship with the right components, which none of the others can claim.

Don't consider this bragging, but to say that you have better standards than a carrier building nation is just...
Come on.

I do hope to see you build it yourself. Good day.

Whole BN is composed of 2 ulson class frigates acquired early 2000s and 2 ex chinese used archaic t53..that's it...
do they have capability tp fire long range AShM like babur etc?

can i give you a perspective ? :D
BY 2030
Plan:BN
16 Frigates (mix)
16 Corvettes (Shandhinota class type and mix)
8 Large Patrol crafts-missile (Durjoy class type)
6-8 subs
unknown number of midget class type subs
50+ aircrafts in Naval Aviation wing
and other support ships

Plan: BCG
around 20 large Patrol ships (over 600+ tonne) including like Hovercraft
around 100 small patrol ships and boats. (Padma class etc)
around 15 aircrafts

so how is it sounds ? :D
