I'm a BIG Armoured Corps fanatic so I was a bit bummed out when I didn't find a whole lot of information on them on this website (Might be that I'm searching in the wrong direction?). I hope that this thread becomes the information hub on EVERYTHING related the glamour of the Armoured Corp. I would like these points to be the primary topic please!
1- The President's bodyguard (History, combat history, ceremonial duties, requirements for jawans and officer and, uniforms)
2- The regiments of the Armoured Corps
3- The traditions of the different regiments
4- The friendly inter rivalry between the cavalry and the other arms.

Can anyone provide me basic details about Armored Corps. How many tanks are there in a brigade and a division. How many units are there in a brigade? and how many brigades are in a division NORMALLY!

Well as per 1965 and 71 data of pakistani armoured battalion is 48 MBT tanks per battalion and. Each division has four such battalions and 2 light armour battalions
Number BTW 250-300 heavy and light armoured vehicles

Along with this 5 to 10 companies which strenth goes to 4000 to 10000 soilder's depend upon nation to nation

Thanks for your reply! As per my knowledge there are 44 tanks in a unit and you have said that 3 units makes a brigade then how 88 tanks can form a brigade? it should be 44+44+44???

There should be 3 armoured regiments in 1 armoured brigade but its not like that. There are not more than 2. The 3rd regiment can be mechanised infantry battalion.

If you are talking about regimental term as used in US Army instead of Brigades, then regiment is commanded by a colonel having 2 or more battalions. Its smaller than a brigade.
In PA, the term regiment could be used for a single battalion. The term of regiment/battalion/unit means the same thing.

In PA, the term Armoured Brigade Group is used. It can be used for independent brigade which comes directly under Corps HQ instead of any Division, e.g 3rd Independent Armoured Brigade Group or 3rd IABG.

Armour and Artillery are always regiments which are equals of what you would typically have in an Infantry battalion. However Infantry battalions are more manpower intensive. On average 45 tanks per regiment allowing for 3 squadrons/squads (A, B and C) which essentially are equal to what we would have as fighting companies within an infantry regiment or batteries in Artillery parlance. In addition there are also command, recce and support elements resulting in additional squads. The norm is to form units that are essentially triangular in terms of the fighting elements not counting the command, recce and support echelons. So again on average three squads per armoured regiment, three regiments per armoured brigade and three brigades to a division however exceptions exist at all levels and at all times given the constant amalgamation and rationalization that goes on in any Army.

I am talking about those armored regimental groups which were used in Azm e Nau to depict an attack by tanks and APCs after pounding the targets with artillery alongwith Air Defense support. This whole system was called an armored regimental group by announcer.

The armoured regimental group is nothing more than an armoured regiment unless the vocabulary has been spun up to mean something entirely new in Army parlance. In this case the context is the AC regiment working in synergy with other arms including Infantry and artillery. The need to pull such formations together is done as needed based on the objectives of the mission and available assets. In certain cases the armour moves on its own and links up with infantry, in other cases both armour and infantry move together perhaps with fire support from the artillery.
