The 10 most socially advanced country

Just b/c a lot of people are too lazy to work it doesn't mean there's no work! Alberta has some of the lowest unemployment rates on the planet.

I moved to the province from BC in Feb and applied to 3 job ads. Within a week I was working. This year I'll make 60-70K dollars and this is my first year in this career (non-destructive testing). Next year I'll make 80,000. Starting from year 3 my wage will go above 6 figures. And this is just in Edmonton. I'm too much of a ***** to go to places like Fort MacMurray. People make insane amounts of cash in those areas.

Canada is a great place if you're not lazy and willing to do work. Western Canada's economy runs on natural resources (oil, mining, lumber etc...) and if you're willing to work, you get paid better than some doctors. After a few years of experience you actually end up making more than lawyers and doctors.

I don't know about you , but I went to Canada a few years ago and all I brought back home was schizophrenia ;)

may be you have some skillset that is shortage there. Or probably you are above average job seeker. Even in Uk, they dont find people for many skills, but lots of new graduates are jobless.

#4 sounds decent though we could do better, hopefully we keep working hard and all achieve a decent living standard folks. However I do disagree with UK being too ahead in comparison to France or Chinois Tapei, which are way too in low contrast and seriously UK(a country in recession).

We're not even in a recession. Not that has much to do with being socially advanced. Our air, water and sanitation is very good.
Other things like road safety etc we are the best in the world at.

First of all, in Canada getting a job for the immigrant in white collar sector is too tough, they make sure immigrants just work in blue collar jobs, once your generation has survived in blue collar, your kids can dream of white collar jobs

Isn't it true in any country, not just Canada??

Tell me how many immigrant can work white collar in America, Australia and the UK? Even Sweden does it too, unless you migrate from within EU.

No, it is not true, when you immigrate to Canada, you are immigrated on skilled category and then since people dont know that their degrees will not be recognized by the companies hiring, so there is a disconnect there..now they are changing these policies. Comparing with USA, it is different, plus jobs also make a difference, more the number of jobs in a country more easily immigrants can jump to white collar jobs. USA have many white collar jobs and there are immigrants and non-immigrants in those jobs.

I dont know about other countries.

What did you expect? To be handed a job at the airport? What did you do for yourself to make yourself employable? Again, the unemployment rate doesn't lie. If you're part of the 1-3% of ppl that's unemployed, than that's your own fault.

My skillset is that I'm willing to travel for work, no matter where, and I'm willing to work in harsh condistions outside. That's my skillset. For that I'm getting paid very good money and it's only going up from here. By next year I'll be making more than my dad. In 2-3 years I'll be making twice what my dad makes a year.

Everybody must do whatever they can to make themselves employable. I was never good at applied sciences or math, but I did go to college. After graduating I realized that if I want to make serious cash, I'd need to either become a lawyer/doctor etc... which was not possible. The other option was to see what the Canadian market wanted and adjust my skillset accordingly. Western Canada runs on oil/gas, mining etc... There are a million different trades available. Pick one and see how fast you can get working.

Going to university and studying basket weaving won't get you jobs. In a free market industries and corporations run the economy and they will hire only those that are able to meet specific objectives. You have to have a unique skillset or be willing to learn a unique skillset/trade. Just graduating in general sciences or some rediculous degree like that won't even get you a job at walmart.

Seeing what you have written , you are working as a technician- technicians are semi-blue collar jobs..when we say white collar jobs, that means working as engineer, doctor etc where you dont have to toil and work in the field...you are making good money for sure--even this much money a plumber can make in his manual labor is paid well in western world...but these are just choices everybody make..you are hardworking and ready to this job..good for you!

Those are outdated terms. Many "office' jobs pay FAR lower than trades and are on their way out due to technology.

A plumber and mechanic can make upwards of 50K, and grows with clients. That is decent money.

I agree-this is correct and that is why you see more manual laborers or people working in the field or self employed are buying houses, living their dreams where as white collar are laid off or paid less!

Erm, after looking through the list, I had to go back to the title to see if it is actually the "10 most in-debt country".

Actually things is not that gloomy as you think in the US. Sure, there are many white collar job open for anyone. But unless you are good and have connection, you don't even have a shot of those job.

Same thing in Australia. Many of the Chinese who gone to Australia for Master or Even Doctorate, how many of those are working in the related field? Many studied in University solely aimed for migration, nothing more. Once they got the Visas, you will see them working in local Chinese restaurant. I once travel from Sydeny to Melborne and need to take 3 cabs ride (From my home to Sydney Domestic Terminal, then from Melborne Airport to Central CBD, then Central CBD to my Hotel) all 3 cab driver co-incidentally are from India, and all have doctoral degree.....
