A fantasy of our Vietnamese friend. Thailand will yield only to its national interest. As it stands, its balancing her relationship with an ascendant China and the United States. Review of history shows that Siam (Muang Thai) gives ear to whoever is the pre-eminent power, as in the case of the Empire of Japan's alliance with Siam in 1941.
Thailand sees Vietnam as a competitor and rival. So siding with a competitor and rival is counter-intuitive for her; she will most likely align with China to counter the threat of Vietnam. I'm sure the Thais welcome the notion of Vietnam having territorial qualms with China as it necessitates Vietnam's attention and resources to the North rather than to say -- the "submekong" region.
Good points
