Caretaker premier's whereabouts not known

Caretaker premier Niwuttamrong Boonsongpaisan's whereabouts are not yet known after the armed forces seized the power.
Niwuttumrong was not attending the meeting hosted by Army Commander in Chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha at the Royal Army Club which intended to find solution to the ongoing political crisis.
All warring groups were invited to the meeting which today was the second day.
The premier was absent from the meeting since the first day, claiming he was the premier and will not attended the meeting hosted by the army chief.

Thaksin rejects Prayuth's proposal to have caretaker govt resign

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra rejected the proposal by Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha that the Pheu Thai-led caretaker government resign, a Pheu Thai source said on Thursday.
The source said Prayuth came up with three proposals during the seven-partite meeting on Wednesday. First, he proposed that a caretaker Cabinet to resign, secondly that an interim government be formed and thirdly, that both the red-shirt movement and the People's Democratic Reform Committee end their rallies, according to the source.

Pheu Thai to fight to the full extent possible within the legal framework.

Thaksin counter-proposed that the Army should instead arrange for blanket amnesty for all sides and the Shinawatra family would wash its hands of politics.

Army ''temporarily suspends'' charter
The military on Thursday announced the temporary suspension of the constitution after declaring a coup.

The National Peace and Order Maintaining Command decided to temporarily suspend the charter but will still keep Section 2, Col Winthai Suwaree, its spokesman, said.
The section says: ''Thailand adopts a democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State,'' Col Winthai said.
The caretaker government ended as a result of the suspended charter, he said.
Independent agencies and other organisations under the constitution are able to resume their duties normally, he added.
Caretaker cabinet to report to NPOMC
Deposed acting caretaker Prime Minister Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan and 17 other cabinet members have been ordered to report to the military junta on Friday.

The 18 members were required to turn themselves in to the newly-installed National Peace and Command Maintaining Council at the 1st Division King's Guard, army deputy spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree said in a televised broadcast.
