Featured Thai parliament approves procurement of 2 subs from China

The gulf of Thailand is very shallow. Thai submarines are like dead fish. They can easily be seen by planes. Totally useless. Plus we have islands that guard every ship enter the gulf. There is nothing to hide. Aip or not won’t help.

The shallow water has a more complicated background noise and it makes subs more difficult to be detected. And BTW, what type of plane you have to detect thai subs? Do you have a plane like this:

S-26T Yuan Class Subs with AIP (Air-Independent Propulsion) Technology.

Congrats for Thai Navy, this is a Huge Leap for their Capability. And become The only country in South east Asia to have AIP Submarine Technology, together with Singapore.

S-26T Yuan Class Subs with AIP Technology, is a monster in South east asia submarine race

Just ignore those envy viet trolls, they envy because they don't have AIP Technology in their old submarines :enjoy:
Yes, subs with AIP tech can hide underwater for weeks, and will have great great advantage over those traditional diesel-electrical subs which have to surface every day or two...

Who says there are just going to operate in the Gulf of Thailand? AIP enables the submarines to venture far into the SCS ... the Thais are not stupid enough to lose such an expensive sub just like that. And AFAIK, Vietnam has no real ASW capability so these submarines are indeed very dangerous so Thailand can still probably get away with sailing in extremely shallow waters.

I think the Yuan class with AIP can reach the 1st island chain in one breath.

Shallow water means subs can be spotted by visual contact. No we are a poor country we have just simple sub hunters in possession.

Because we guard the entrance to the gulf we know where thai submarines locate, dockIng at port or operating at sea. I don’t think they want to venture into the SCS. No we haven’t modern stuff however Viet sub hunters have loose fingers if coming to weaker opponents as the Siamese.

Unlike your diesel-electrical subs, AIP subs do have the ability to get into the ocean...
And LMAO... You mean you can 'guard' the gulf by your few tiny little choppers??? Come on, do not talk jokes again...
It is more likely your entire sub fleet will be annihilated by the choppers on this thing, if choppers are that effective against submarines as you claim:

And they do have patrol planes too:

I mean guarding the gulf by geography. Not by choppers. We have the biggest island there.

It is rich coming from Vietnam who only had one proper Naval base which can accomodate Submarine unit, which is Cham Ranh Bay.

Not Cham ranh sis, Cam Ranh.
Cam Ranh is the submarine base.
we have many other for the surface fleets.
Phu quoc isn’t small, it has the size of Singapore.
There is a naval base too.

No you can't... You simply do not have enough equipment to 'guard' the gulf which is hundreds of miles in width...By 'geography'? lol... What an island can do to Thai AIP subs if you only have less than 10 helicopters and do not have any advanced petrol planes? Your 6 diesel-electrical subs which have to surface every few hours are useless in front of AIP subs and petrol plane/helicopters...
