Ther is alternative enough...

There is no alternative, these actuators are specially designed to be accommodated within the leading and trailing edges. Why Turkey doesn't establish a company to develop them dumb founds me.. Silly planning, like no one foresaw Ukraine being invaded.

Hulusi Akar: “We will never let again that the gains we have made in the defense industry are like the fate of Kayseri Aircraft and Engine Factory, Nuri Demirağ, Vecihi Hürkuş's aircraft factories (1930s), Nuri Killigil's national weapons factory (1930s) and Devrim cars. We will not allow it.”

The countdown continues for the great revolution in Turkish aviation history.

The F110 Turbofan Engines to be used in the National Combat Aircraft development program was delivered to Turkiye by the USA.

Abdurrahman Şeref CAN, Head of the Aircraft Department of the Presidency of Defense Industries, made statements on the subject during the 9th Air and Avionic Systems Seminar.

CAN announced that the F-110 engines to be used in the prototype of the National Combat Aircraft, developed by TAI and planned to leave the hangar on March 18, 2023, were delivered to Turkiye.

The development, first announced by SavunmaSanayiST.com, is critical for the successful realization of the engine supply, which is the most challenging stage for the National Combat Aircraft.

It is known that these engines will be used in 3 MMU Block 0 and 1 MMU Block I prototypes by TAI. Of the 10 F110 engines planned to be supplied by TAI, 8 will be used in these prototypes, and 2 engines will be procured for spare purposes.

In mass production MMUs, on the other hand, it is aimed to use the turbofan engine that Turkiye will develop uniquely. For this purpose, the Turkish Kale R&D firm and the British Rolls-Royce firm carry out various joint studies. In May, Head of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. A delegation led by İsmail DEMİR visited Rolls-Royce for this purpose.

The developing and production activities of the National Combat Aircraft currently continue within the body of TAI. The first prototype aircraft is scheduled to leave the hangar on March 18, 2023, with the engines running, and start ground tests. The maiden flight of MMU Block 0 is planned for the 2026.

As of 2029, it is aimed to start the production activities of the MMU Block I configuration and to deliver 10 MMU Block I A/Cs to the Turkish Air Force.

If everything goes well, the Turkish Air Force will declare an IOC/FOC for the MMU in the first half of the 2030s.
