Texas Allows Carrying Gun without a Permit

But you can't change it now, like no practical way to take guns away from people

You can't go the Japan way, so only way out now is more guns so people with guns can protect themselves against the bad guys

It's deterence
You can take away guns from people. Australia did it successfully resulting in significant drop in gun violence.

Issue is this wont happen in US
" In the 21 years since the laws were passed, about one million semi-automatic weapons - roughly one third of the country's firearms - were sold back to the government and destroyed, nearly halving the number of gun-owning households in Australia. "
Also people kill with cars, bombs everything this is just mode of killing, it isn't solving the deeper issue

So you'll need guns as deterrence, look at NY, Chicago are they way safer than somewhere in Texas
I am not too sure about that...

So give everyone a fighting chance to survive (its basic ethics), before opening fire the criminal would know other guy can kill me too
its not one way street

It is much more difficult to mass-murder with cars and bombs than with guns.

I am not sure about the gun sale policy in NY, but it is in US, so not sure how safe NY is.

If an angry man does not have a mass-murder weapon, he might kill a person or two using knives or hands. With a gun, the chances of people dying multiplies.

Criminals don't land from Mars, they are the creation of the very society.
Exactly.

This is the U.S. They won't allow it. Its also political suicide. I guarantee it. You already have states passing gun laws to prevent the federal government from trying to impose their own gun laws under Biden.
Every couple of months, we hear of a deranged man going rampant at public with a gun with no regard to his own life. How will unrestrained sale and use of guns help such situations? In fact, Japan model should be followed where gun use is very very strict.
This isn't Japan and the U.S. won't do it as long as the 2nd Amendment is in our Bill of Rights considered a God given right no matter what anyone else says. And even if you try, criminals will always find a way to get guns.

This is why we have to counter something like this where others have guns.

You are right. Both parties are firmly in the grip of the powerful gun lobby which funds elections. Highly unlikekly that they would allow few massacres to affect their gun sales business.

People like their guns even with massacres.

Massacres usually happen between a few with guns and the mass without. If most people carry their guns, there will likely be shoot-outs than massacres. Personally, I don't like half solutions, which simply make ordinary people more vulnerable. Instead, there should be either strict and total ban on firearms or completely unrestricted gun ownership coupled with mandatory military service that makes everyone familiar with how to use guns.

That will be up to the politicians in each state who are pro or anti gun.

Even if you hand a gun to every individual and train them, you do not expect everyone to carry it everywhere. Eg. School, Church, Pub etc
It takes just one guy with a gun to go on a rampage and kill 10 people before getting shot in return.

150% agreed, there's no halfway solution to this problem

Actually there was attempted massacre at a church but LTC church goers killed him before it got worse.

After a few shoot-out, you will see everyone carrying it.

Even without guns, if someone wants to go on a rampage, he can use a knife to kill 10+ kids quickly, as it happens in China. That hurts more than killing adults.
