Not an expert, but Huawei's seems smoother and more intelligent even in more difficult traffic conditions in China. And it was fully autonomous without any assistance for more than an hour. Huawei claims that they are at lv4 autonomy.

Just my opinion. Go compare and share your opinion.

Are you just bring sarcastic or clueless? Lol. US views every Chinese company as a national security threat and has banned or limited them from operating In the US. It started mostly with Trump. However Trump has put the bar so high that his predecessors can't lower them due to their fear of being labelled a Chinese appeaser or appearing soft . So this policy will carry on for a long time in future

In that case I think the Chinese government should just demote him and break up or ban his company since he just a Jewish lobbyist aimed at disrupting and harming China's economy

Unfortunately Huawei's solution is similar to Waymo's solution of using pre-generated millimeter precision mapping of test areas to facilitate a quicker autonomous driving ability.

As Elon Musk has said...yes that can allow you to jump into the market faster than relying solely on computer vision but it is not a practical worldwide solution. Already Google Street view is banned in countries (including China) and having an exponentially more detailed mapping done of a country by a foreign company just isn't going to happen.

Tesla relies on basic GPS level road maps (like you'd see on a phone..which also knows where traffic lights, stop signs, and one way streets are) and using computer vision interprets the surroundings dynamically. So yes millimeter mapping will give you smoother turns but will mess up badly if the maps are out of date.

Elon Musk has announced the next release of the self driving software this month will ditch the radar and use just the cameras and AI.

Unfortunately because they rely on maps to do the heavy lifting their computer vision is not scrutinizing the scene pixel by pixel as a full camera one does. Look how it doesn't react to the oncoming car when it takes a left (probably beyond radar range)

however up close the radar works very very well.

Just watched a video of Huawei's self-driving technology. Much more impressive than Tesla's FSD IMO.

First beta release of 100% vision plus AI

No radar anymore, never had LIDAR
Works on all roads (even dirt ones) with no pre-mapping required

The number of testers is now known because the US Government didn't like one feature and asked for a software rollback which revealed the actual number of beta testers.

Well the problem is the Chinese EV's are seen as even more garbage so the Chinese people have to settle for the lesser evil. Luckily they have this alternative choice.

The #1 EV in China...not exactly inspiring confidence.

Tesla sold 936K vehicles in 2021. They’ll likely sell in excess of 1.6M in 2022. I’ve never seen demand for vehicles like Tesla before. Their not even close to meeting demand.
