The option is open for the Kashmiris to drop the gun and join the democratic process and peaceful demonstrations if at all.
Violence and vandalism will lead to more violence against them and in the process lose any sympathy the rest of India has for Kashmiris.
Remember, this is the battle between the wishes of 1.2 billion people vs a few million Kashmiris (if Pakistani propoganda is to be believed). At the end of the day, our army and govt has the support of the common indian, be it Hindu or Muslim.

It’s an uphill task for the Kashmiri, esp since India is in a position of strength and really does not need to negotiate anything!
So the only option for Kashmiris is to appeal to the common indian and their current behavior does not garner any sympathy from majority of Indians.

Please educate yourself. The dispute between India and China in Kashmir is on an area which has never been a part of Kashmir. It was marked by a British person as part of one of several boundary marking expeditions and so was annexation of Chinese territory on paper only. According to the agreement between Pakistan and China, Pakistan refused any claim to the Chinese area and got a huge area of land released from Chinese occupation. This is a fact and you can research it.

Kashmir became part of India when the accession was approved by the king. From that moment, Kashmir belonged to India and Indians, including the new Indian Kashmiri citizens. Why should a large percentage of the population loose land because of a few? We have to consider the needs of the majority. They can have Kashmir as a part of India or they can be stateless people. Their choice.
