Fraser Anning condemned the shootings but said there was an apparent link between violence and Muslim immigration. He went on to claim that Muslims "usually are the perpetrators" of violence and that Islam is tantamount to fascism.

I am not sure why no one told this "decent" man that "now is not the time" for such stunts

Meanwhile, activists have kicked off an online petition, seeking to remove Anning from office. It has garnered close to 300,000 signatures as of the time of the writing.

Moreover, according to Australian reporter James O'Doherty, the parliament is working on a motion to censure Anning for his comments.

Thank god there are sane people! Sadly there seems no proper procedure to counter this!

Some years back, I have had the unpleasant experience with some of your racist politicians.
All they got from me was middle finger. As a consequence, they got very upset and fired all of that (Australian-Canadian) staff who facilitated me (unknowingly) to get what i need.
So, I can imagine what's Australian govt. is made up off.
