What what?

If a truth does not suit your wishes then be it, but reality is even if sub continent people move abroad to Western societies they will come back to sub continent looking for suitable broom or bride. So what did I say wrong?

"their offspring won't go against their wishes "

Offspring = when two people get naughty someday and they get punished for their naughtiness after nine months.
Wishes = Every parent wants his / her child to grow to an educated person (become doctor, engineer, etc etc) and marry some very decent settled male or in case of female a perfect housewife who will bring lots of dowry.
Against = Something when someone's child (male / female) thinks that his / her old folks are idiots and they can now way think any good about his / her future. Hence they prefer their own choices and sometimes elope.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. :agree:

very south asian crime this... comes from the joint family culture where the youngsters are essentially slaves to the various uncles and aunts, and enforcers of the the criminal ideas of these "elders".

and every two-bit laborer or wage-slaver officer-worker in south asia seems to some "honor" that must be protected by the females in his family... doesn't matter if this laborer of city wage-slave has no influence outside the gate of his house.

The older generation of South Asians are control freaks. Lets hope they quickly die off so we can catch up with the rest of the world.

yes... what is your opinion about all this??

yes, south asia is one region which is far behind other societies in any sort of social development, though afghanistan during the socialist years sat alongside other progressive nations... until uncle sam stopped by to say hello.

It is rather sad that those who are supposed to be protecting you are out there for your blood! GOD honors a man with daughters he dishonors himself when he sends her back to GOD....

In the sub continent, its a crime for a girl to love a boy of her choice. But its perfectly okay to marry her off to a man who is a complete stranger. Wow!
It is very interesting to note that the countries (of ME,subcontinent, North Africa) where honor killings 're high also top the charts in dowry deaths, female infanticide, crimes of passion, domestic violence, acid attacks, forced and child marriages, rape as a weapon of war and human trafficking.

There is no honor in any killing. Simple as that.
I agree with what @jamahir had to say, your first post was confusing.

What happened here, I am loosing my eyesight awww this growing age is a curse :(. It is such a nice cute adbi username :p:. You will have to live with it now I requested to change it once and can't do it again, webmaster g ulta latka dain gay mujay :D

When I say

"If the families of these victims had ever had any honor their offspring won't go against their wishes and elope."

In part it refers to all the social evils which you already mentioned, in other part it refers to how we groom our children, I mean an honorable family does not take out guns to kill their family or children, instead it focuses on educating their children that no matter what you do, just keep us updated, don't hide anything from us just because of the fear that we would get angry or won't like it. And the main thing is they give their children confidence to discuss their problems with them and enable them to decide what is good and what is bad. If a family or parent cannot afford this to their children they have no honor to scold or kill them latter on for honor that never existed.

I find children very sensitive in their early age, if you start forcing things on them without proper counselling; they are going to retaliate one day. There is a limit to everything and the harder you press the spring the harder it will bounce back.

.
Just some day people will realize that a human life is far precious than false notion of honor.
Perhaps the family would've been happy had the girl chosen to marry into her family's choice rather than choosing to fall in love.
Just how much more ridiculous can it get?
unfortunately these instances are quite common in parts of India too :undecided:
