Teacher suspended over Japanese tune

I empathize , I really do. However, I don't think it is necessary to punish this Chinese school teacher for deciding to choose the song. I doubt she had any pre-conceived knowledge. Lastly, the war between Japan and China is long gone. It is time for us to move on and focus on productive energies that will foster better ties between Japan and China. Relations between Japan and China go back over 2 millennia; and thus our peoples shouldn't over-emphasize unfortunate war events , but focus on the peaceful relationship that defines the majority of historical chronology between our two countries and people.

Further, I just remember something. A united CJK is against the interests of U.S. The U.S. will try the best to keep its existence in this area.

She will get her job back soon. There's no rules saying that a teacher is fired because playing a Japanese military song.
I guess most of the parents know more than she does. These parents report to school.

The root cause is yasukuni shrine. I understand the shrine shows the glorious past of Japan. However, it also has war criminals.
In fact, China has suggested Japan to move the war criminals into a different place and still keep this shrine.
no matter the hurt itself, but hurt makes people together, and past shows us how to avoid the fails and be better.

I turely understand why Japan government try to pass the war history and criminals like it didn't happen, it's for long live the country, not good for others but good for Japan, for same reason, Chinese cannot forget how we lost our central country title in the past, we have to be better and much better through the pain.

I believe all histories on books are wrote by human, and we are supposed to make better history in the future.

One day, China becomes a developed one with global power, we will let yesterdays go.

Forgiveness is much harder than hate.

Thank you Gentlemen for sharing your position. I respect and honor your comments and understand the sensitivity behind it. You know, for me as a Japanese who wants the best for my nation, it is impossible for me to divorce China from our relations because of the special historical commonality and cultural identity that both our nations and people share. Japan, to be honest and truthful, is very much influenced by China , in fact the very foundation of Japanese core society -- language, courting, political behaviorism, art, architecture, is heavily influenced by China.

Even before there was a nation called 'Japan', the people of the Japan Islands were noted and recognized by the Han Dynasty who referred to us with the collective 'Wa'. Since then, from succeeding dynasties of Imperial China, there was infusion of everything that was in China to Japan. This helped form the early Japanese Dynasty, the concept of the Imperial House was based and influenced by China as well as by the Korean civilization known as Bekjae, which was also heavily influenced by Chinese Confucian Culture. Trade between the Great Chinese civilization and Japan helped to transform Japan's early feudal fiscal system, helped to develop our own infrastructure. This peaceful relationship is what defines the majority of Chinese and Japanese history. It is unfortunate that expansionism marked the 16th century and the 19th and early 20th century. This foolish interventionist policy hurt the traditional relationship that defined China and Japan.

With the end of the 2nd Sino Japanese War, there was restoration of peace. Restoration of trade, restoration of cultural respect and understanding. The things that defined Japanese and Chinese relationship for most of the 1st , 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, early 16th, 17th, 18th, early 19th, late 20th centuries.

Even before there was an England, a Germany, a France, Spain, Russia, America, Canada, Australia, etc. There was already a historical and cultural relationship between China and Japan. The bond between our two nations is ancient. And I believe that in this century, Japan and China must learn to work together, to cooperate to ensure security between our two nations. This will in turn lead to harmony in East Asia. And the Greater Asia-Pacific Region.

Japan and China relationship of mutual development and growth is over 2 millennia. There is no reason why we will not continue to be mutual friends for 2 millennia more. 10,000 years more.

The Japanese teacher can play Chinese tune from 李香兰 , rip to this famous singer

We regularly use Chinese songs btw. It's common knowledge that we appreciate Chinese traditional music as well as contemporary.

Japan use Chinese songs in where? :cuckoo:

Traditional Chinese music influenced native Japanese music. If you examine our folk songs you can see the Sino influence. China is old, over 5000 years old. We are only 2500 years old. It's given that when in our infancy, we acquired much from China. China is Japan's older brother. Symbolically speaking.

For example , Japanese Court music is known as Togaku or referred to as Gagaku. This was influenced by Chinese music described in Kanji as "Yayue" or elegant music from the Tang Dynasty.

Togaku evolved in it's use in court rituals, in Shinto shrines, etc.

The point is, it was largely influenced by Chinese artisans of Tang Dynasty.

So contemporary Togaku , even today, is Chinese in origin. Even our flutes are based on the Chinese ones. So our appreciation of Japanese folk music is , naturally, an appreciation of Chinese folk music as well.

I am glad Japanese admit it. While some Koreans, you know it.
