Crimean Tatars called for “international intervention” against the Russian occupation of their homeland on Sunday.

In a statement issued at the end of a two-day meeting in Turkish capital Ankara, the forum of 184 Tatar groups from 12 countries said the freedoms and rights of their compatriots “forced to live under Russian occupation… must be ensured under the supervision of international institutions and prompt and robust international intervention must be made.”

It depends on which type of Tatar.

The Kazan Tatars (the turkified Slavs/Scythians) are pro-Russia, while the Crimean Tatars (the leftover of the Golden Horde) are anti-Russia and pro-Turkey.

Only Crimean Tatars hate Russians. Not because of Stalin who was a Georgian but because they are just like that. BTW the Ukrainian foreign minister Klimkin whom, as you can tell from his name is an ethnic Russian, spoke at this congress.

Kazan Tatar Turks are also pro-Turkey. The Kazan Tatars are relatively less anti-Russian because they have their own republic and they are respected by Russia.

The Kazan Tatars are mostly genetically Slavic, so they would not favor Turkey over Russia despite its religion is also Sunni Islam.

Russia did what had to be done. Sometimes you just have to do some things, even if after that will be a negative impact.
Russia is for a reason sought to gain a foothold in Crimea since the 10th century. It is a matter of national security.
