What else do you want?To Tata Motors : Tumse na ho payega
To Tata Motors : Tumse na ho payega
Nice
but i'm getting a feeling that TATA motors is whether taking its first steps or is actually working on affordable compact cars suitable for india's 1.2 billion population
great work pals ! keep it up
Tata’s indigenously-developed 1.2-litre The four-cylinder Revotron turbo-petrol that will make its debut on the Bolt and Zest produces 83.8bhp at 5,000rpm and 14.3kgm at 1,750-3,500rpm
Tata Zest diesel will get an automated manual transmission (AMT), dubbed F-tronic, and this could possibly become the most affordable diesel automatic car in the country.
Tata launches new 'Revotron' 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine
The advent of turbocharging was seen in the late 70’s and 80’s when GM, BMW, Porsche and Saab went turbo crazy and starting equipping their run-of-the-mill engines with turbochargers in the advent of more power. Today though turbochargers offer a whole different approach to manufacturers. Today, most engines get a turbocharger to fulfill stringent emissions norms around the world.
The first revolutionary new turbo engine for the masses was seen a few years ago when Fiat decided to build a sub 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine debuting its line of Twin-Air engines. Recently, in India, we have seen Ford’s highly acclaimed EcoBoost and Volkswagen’s equally acclaimed TSi engine families make its debut in India. Not to be left behind, Tata Motors too have introduced an all new family of turbocharged, fuel-injected engines christened the ‘Revotron’.
The first in the line of new engines is the all-new 1.2-litre Revotron turbo petrol engine. This engine in its current state of tune will offer 85PS of peak power and 140Nm of peak torque. The new 1.2-litre Revotron engine is constructed out of cast iron as compared to aluminum and will feature a stiffer construction so as to restrict noise and vibration levels coming from the engine. This new engine is also capable of handling multiple fuel options like CNG and LPG. The new 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron engine’s turbocharger features advanced technology like a water cooling system working in tandem with the intercooler. The new turbo also features a low inertia turbo blades and bearings which let the turbo spool quicker thus making power delivery across the rev-range possible.
Dr. Tim Leverton, President and Head, Engineering Research Centre, mentioned how some of the most critical work that has undergone in the creation of this engine was in the field of friction reduction. The pistons and rings are coated in a low friction material to ensure minimal power losses. Similarly, other subsidiary components like alternator bearings and compressor bearings too have been treated with the same low friction material to ensure minimal mechanical efficiency losses making sure all the engine’s power is used to create propulsion for the vehicle. Another area in which a lot of effort was put in was camshaft optimization making sure the best balance of fuel economy and performance was achieved.
One of the most intriguing facets of this engine will be the multiple drive options which will allow the driver to select between two pre-set engine management maps. These maps will be tuned for efficiency and performance giving the driver an option to choose what kind of driving mode one wishes to use. The new engines will also come with optimized transmissions which will allow them to handle the 1.2-litre Revotron’s extra torque and power as compared to the standard naturally aspirated version.
According to Dr Tim Leverton, a lot of joint development, both in terms of technologies, processed and strategies have been shared between the Tata team in India and the JLR team in the United Kingdom to jointly develop this family of turbocharged engines. Other component manufacturers like Bosch, AVL and Honeywell have also provided expertise and technology for the new engine family. The 1.2-litre Revotron engine is only the beginning of a whole range of new engines expected from Tata Motors over the next year. We expect 4-5 new engines ranging from a sub 1-litre to larger capacity engines for future products.

Its on sale in Italy??
looks like they've done away with those stupid looking rear lamps the one on indica...Tata Zest
Tata Bolt
They already did that...Tata Nano
This is just great..
And...
How did I miss this news...
The new Revotron engine features drive-by-wire technology, with selectable modes for power and economy separately.
It will come naturally once the demand rises ...we need more investment in automobile industry
That's the STORME buddy.Nice, but I'm more interested about SUVs rather than sedans or hatchbacks...
