Sri Lanka political sources say that a dialogue has been initiated between the major Tamil party, Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) to form an alliance for campaigning at the Eastern Provincial Council election.
The two parties held a discussion on Friday after the nominations were handed over. TNA general secretary Mavai Senathiraja and SLMC general secretary Hasan Ali participated in talks.
Sources say that the two parties have discussed forming a permanent alliance to win the power of the Eastern Provincial Council. They have discussed going in to common action to find solutions to common political problems of the two minority communities of the country.
The discussions are to go ahead, political sources say.
