Taliban warn Prince Harry: we'll destroy you if we capture you in Afghanist

Well no aircrew have been captured to date so this shouldn't be too worrying espaically as he will be in the flying tank (Apache).

It is a ridiculous idea to have him in active duty though the amount of extra money that has had to be spent on his training and security provisions in Afghanistan just makes it unnecessary for him to be out there. If it was on merit alone there's no way he'd have made it to this stage- he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Self riotous, inbred fools with inherited wealth and talent-less fame.
A bit harsh, I quite like Harry, he seems quite normal. Besides people would complain if he was not on the front line.
Surely being able to fly an apache is absolute? You can fly it properly or you cannot. Therefore he must be quite capable.

Prince Harry and William are good guys.

I'd not recommend any royal family member to actively serve in wars.

.
if he is going to set foot on afghanistan right now as an occupier, how could he ever set foot there again after the occupation ended? even if the brits thought they fought a righteous war, this move is boneheaded

Could you imagine if the Taliban managed to capture a British prince alive? It would be earth-shattering. It would be the first time a British prince has been captured alive.

Yeah and after that, UK would take extreme steps to get it regardless of what the region around Afghanistan says of the methods that it would employ.

. .
what if the prince gets shot down by a Iranian supplied anti air missile ?

Then you would see a lot of mess coming from UK for no reason at all. I know you and UK are not in the best of terms but why indulge in a war that is not yours? You'd further give fuel to the fire that says you're aiding Taliban, which so far is false.

Yeah and after that, UK would take extreme steps to get it regardless of what the region around Afghanistan says of the methods that it would employ.

That's why I don't recommend people like him actively serving in wars.

God forbid the worst.

The point is what happens if he gets into trouble? Then your government would have to take extra aggressive measures and escalate the war to inhuman levels to get him back. Not that wars are humane. But TBH, princes and other liabilities to the countries should refrain from adding onto national costs at such lean times. Let the experts in the military do the job in peace.

Not all the insurgents in Afghanistan are Taliban mate

Well those against the NATO are either the Talibunnies or AQ or offshoots of either of these groups. And you don't really get along with them. In short, you got two ways of seeing this:

- You hate west so much that you risk a partnership with Taliban.
- You hate both the sides and retain the current status.

brits can scarcely stay alive, and that with american protection. only taliban and americans would be happy with this scenario (yes, americans; like indians, americans are backstabbers by habit, and unlike indians who kiss british ***** by habit also, americans would screw even brits by happily letting the brits take the heavy damage in afghanistan). a dead prince is the best thing that can happen to both taliban (boosting their countrymen's morale) and americans (helping them phase out the war and shift the burden entirely to the brits). now strategic interests dictate that americans and taliban, who are no enemies of americans to begin with, according to biden, should work together to snuff a british prince.

now things are getting interesting, and the only question remaining is: would the doomed prince die by friendly fire or captured, tortured and snuffed by afghans? any bets?

exactly - if taliban get him, they might keep him alive for a long while while using him as a bait and ambush any troops trying to retrieve him. so the captive should be content to learn that he can stay alive as long as brits still try to save him (that is no insurance against torture, though)
