I don't know what all you fellow forum members think but I personally don't like the term IDP. Those poor people are exactly what IDP stands for but they are human beings. Operations of this nature can never be purely military in format.

They should and MUST be a combination of military in conjunction with civil.
Now in Pakistan the civil part may be difficult due to lack of resources, but this is where you must push for external aid assistance.

You can not just have the military going through and cleaning out the militants and then leave a vacuum.

The IDPs are also a big matter of concern and this has to be dealt with else it will degenerate into a huge negative problem for both government and military.

How all this is coordinated is one issue but it needs a central control.

I am not saying nothing is occurring nor that civil/military aid is not happening. Just pointing out what is required.

Three policemen killed in Malakand University ambush DIR: Three policemen were killed including an ASI while four others were injured as unknown militants attacked on University of Malakand located in Chakdara area in Dir on early Wednesday, police sources said.

According to sources, unknown militants opened fired at the University of Malakand following a rocket attack on late night following which militants opened fire at a police mobile which arrived here for rescue purpose.

As a result, ASI police Azizullah Khan and two constables Adam Khel and Inayatullah died on the spot while four other persons including a watchman were injured, sources added.

The suspects set a university point bus on fire and managed to flee unharmed on a university bus. Meanwhile, injured have been shifted to hospital.

On 18 March 2009 around 1:30 AM a group of terrorists tried to enter the university and take vehicles. The security guard tried to stop them, mean while a police squad which was on routine round in the area, herd some fire shots and came on the spot. The terrorists fired a rocket on the police vehicle. As a result three policemen including one Assistant Sub-Inspector and the security guard of the university (Mr. Khaliq Dad) were martyred. The terrorists stole two vehicles from the university and left the two they used to come to the university. Later on Taliban claimed that they captured a group of fourteen people near Shamozai and will handover them to the authorities.
