As some of the links up there show that fighting in Afghanistan is widespread all over the country, the US/NATO wanted the Karzai government to stir the hornet's nest, & that's what they precisely did, falling for the bait. By signing the US strategic alliance pact, the US will have a more strategic than military presence in Afghanistan. Karzai would have been better to directly negotiate with the Taliban, rather than fighting the contradictory "fight & talk" policy of the US. By acting as a proxy to US interests, Karzai basically signed his future death warrant, & the US would try to negotiate with the Taliban on its own if it feels Karzai is not fulfilling its geopolitical objectives in the region.

Kandahar, Khost, Paktia and Nangarhar have traditionally been their political/military strongholds....

like much of Afghanistan, it's never been friendly to invaders. From early 19th Century, britishers sought to control these areas but finally lost grip of it in 1881.

history is just repeating itself over a century later

After 10 years of war the people are satisfied with the "success" that they killed a few Taliban in just 30 minutes. Fine fine.

Yeah if this few Taliban attacked 'some' other people the result would be killing of 10s of soliders and Taliban escaping to the other side of border, so yeah this is a success indeed!

Nobody loves an invader. Except quislings like Karzai

Except when the invader converts the poor pillaged slaughtered invaded and asks them to keep running forever just to stay where they are. Thats sad. But that proves there are exceptions.

In any case Taliban love from Pakistanis oozes non stop and its Pakistan where they need to be defeated simultaneously. More power to the drones.

Did you read what you have posted? 90% of them are fatal attacks, some on civilians and others killing themselves.

aha! so you just conceded that they cross over from the Afghanistan side....so by your logic, you yourselves are harboring those people and allowing them to cross into Pakistan

Yes, and have you seen that they have taken place all over the country? The more hornet's nests you stir, the fighting intensifies all over the country. Simple.

Yeah since no civilian casualty happend it is a bit of success.

But still a huge failure is presnt which people here want to ignore.

These attacks can be attributed to their desperation . Their movement is gradually becoming weaker with the Afghan security forces becoming stronger . Now they are even having hard time handling the Afghan Police .

http://www.defence.pk/forums/afghanistan-defence/186950-20-taliban-militants-killed-clashes-police-force-s-afghanistan.html

Such incidents give one confidence that The Afghan forces will be able to handle the Afghan security by and large after the NATO drawdown in 2014 .

Such attacks will continue to happen like they happen in many countries like Pakistan , Iraq , Yemen, India etc , what is important is that the ability of Taliban to make a 90s style return to power has become impossible now .
