What's new

Taiwanese citizens discriminated by Chinese in Australia

Thing is... they're weak. And their bygone masters are also weak. China is strong - and what the weak want is irrelevant to the strong.
You know who's also weak? India. That's why what India wants the Maldives to do doesn't matter - because China is strong and supports President Yameen.
Technically China paying more attention towards island of Maldives than Taiwan makes China look very weak i.e a nation which cannot exercise control over its own territory but looks to divert attention elsewhere to cover its domestic failures.

What does that say about India who gets slapped in the face by a country of 300,000?

I'll give Indians credit: they are remarkably creative in their delusional ideation. You could punch one into a coma and he'd still think - in the moment before everything goes dark - he won because his skull bruised your knuckles. I guess that when reality is that painful, you invent another one.

Given India doesn't have a renegade province like Taiwan with its own currency, trade, rule and foreign relations. not really much to relate.

You should ask this to Ukraine and Georgia.

Don't worry, you'll be able to relate soon enough. Once China is done pulling your erstwhile "allies" away from you, guess what's next on the agenda.
With Taiwan being an albatross around Chinese neck not really advisable to pick on Russia or USA.

Unless the goal more albatrosses around Chinese neck.

The ideological battle is being taken to diaspora communities!
That means you guys have no right to complain if the US discriminates against Chinese cell phones or even hire ethnic Chinese -- if you guys applaud what happened to this Taiwanese woman.

What's matter, too scare of China's present in Indian Ocean, you think your little trick will be able to divert our attention away from Maldives , in contrary it's India itself look weak on the region for failing the intervention because of Chinese Navy present, Chinese travel thousand miles to Indian Ocean and your navy is incapable to deter us...or should I say that we deter Indian Navy from the intervention:rofl:

As for Taiwan, not because we didn't united it as yet mean we're weak, we're 4 time of your economy, more than 20 times of your military spending in value engineering term , as matter of fact we're stronger than India :butcher:. And why we want to kill each other and let Indians laugh at us?

It is very clear that these Taiwanese don't want to claim themselves as Chinese. Which is basically they are discriminating themselves.

Yes, they are Chinese, but from Taiwan, not mainland, nor USA.

But if the question is being reversed, a Taiwanese ask a mainlander, are you a Chinese (RoC)?

I wonder what the mainlanders are going to answer.

Lol

She should have brought the issue up with the Depart of Jobs and Small Business and filed a complaint of discrimination and unfair hiring practices. She is probably not the only person who has been harassed like this.

What does "Chinese" mean to you? It refers to a nationality, which is essentially a sociopolitical construct sculpted by government-drawn boundary lines and one's endearment to a particular group of people. It does not refer to "race" or "ethnicity" because the three operate independently of each other. Nationality has its roots in the beliefs, governance, economics, and most importantly politics of a certain cohort of individuals, and in this regard mainland PRC and Taiwan/ROC are two different & distinct nations.

Sure, you can go ahead and claim that they might be of the same "race" and bring up all sorts of talk on DNA haplogroups and whatnot, but then you would ditch the terms "China" or "Taiwan" and discuss purely in terms of ethnic groups (Han, Manchu, Mongol, Caucasian, etc.).

What a frivolous nonsense! People don't like each other for whatever reasons. Even self-righteous Googlers ostracize and force out political conservatives. Australian politicians are discriminating Chinese for their political options all the time and now a waitress not having another shift in a Chinese restaurant is a big news?! Give me a break.

You are comparing what politicians say and do as lawmakers to an employer?

We only discriminate Indians.
OK. But we still happily take in Chinese refugees. That will always be the difference between us.

.
I'll be honest, if I'm the boss and if he insist is Taiwanese, I would done the same.
And if that is a violation of local laws, then have the balls to suffer the consequences. But I doubt that you are ever that brave once you find out your business would be in jeopardy. What if the local population decides to side with your employee and boycott your business? What if the local Taiwanese community decides to protest outside your business? You think you can withstand the publicity?

You mean those treasonous Tibetan separatist insurgents.?
Of course India need to provide refuge to their treacherous partners in insurgency.
We all know India is CIA slave perpetually doing underhand subversion in Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Maldives, etc. .
Unfortunately for India, their subterfuge failed in China and got a humiliating mauling from China in 1962.
