Taiwan Urges China to Remove Missiles

This reminds me the 2009 RAND report about a Taiwan strait war in 2013. They made an assumption that China will destroy F-22 at the beginning to win a few days' air superiority. And based on such assumption, they did a thorough analysis.

i think they said with or without the F-22's the war would be in the mainland's favor

How can China destroy the F-22? Are they sending some spies to infiltrate the US military base and set off a bomb next to the planes?

I didn't revisit the report. IIRC, RAND researchers assume (just assume) PLA will employ a strategy named quick victory invasion. They predict that first day's ballistic missile strike will be a KO punch to airports in Taiwan and Kadena. Unsheltered aircrafts including some F-22s will be killed on the ground. Therefore, PLAAF will be able to engage much more fighters/bombers than ROCAF/USAF in the first a couple of days. RAND guys say PLAAF can dominate the sky for a while, but the problem is can they really exploit such air superiority. LOL. That's a good question, to be honest.

well the thing is they dont have to destroy the F-22's necessarily, the assumption for putting the F-22's out of action is that china will bombard the airport the F-22's have to use.

otherwise to reach the area of conflict from a safe airport they have to rely on tankers...which are very vulnerable.

the F-22 will also be out numbered greatly and even if invincible they are limited in numbers(us isnt gonna take all 186 to the theater)they can only carry a certain amount of weapons(and no serious ground attack) and can only make a few sorties from those said far away air bases thus to take air superiority from PLAAF they will have to bring carriers(with the F-18s) which will take time and more and more those same carrier are themselves under greater threat
