In a ceremony, both vessels took part in a maritime exercise that demonstrated their capabilities.

The 119 m cutters were laid down in 2012 by Kaohsiung Shipbuilding and delivered to the CGA in late 2014. According to IHS Jane's Fighting Ships , each vessel is armed with one 40 mm and two 20 mm guns. Specifications provided by the CGA indicate a maximum speed of 24 kt and a standard range of 10,000 n miles. Besides naval guns, the vessels are also said to each be equipped with one water cannon.

IHS Jane's reported in March 2014, citing local media reports, that the helicopter-capable cutters were built at a cost of TWD5.2 billion (USD167 million) and will feature a fire control system on its 40 mm guns. The CGA has declined to confirm details on the ship's weapons and radar systems.
