What's new

Taiwan-China War

I wonder if that because of your English??

Program was cancelled (By the way you spell cancelled wrong) mean the program have been folded.

When a program have made and is currently making ships, the program is NOT CANCELLED, but discontinued.

The different is, you can remake the item (The production line is still there) once on discontinue list and you can't when you cancel an product.

F-22, in this case is discontinued with production, the US can make them if they seems fits and have money, but the US would not make a "Cancelled" FB-23 project even if they seems fits and have money.

The same case with Zumwalt.

I know, in Chinese both mean the same, but not the same in English

You were wrong about Taiwan's strategic depth.
You were wrong when you overlooked China's airlift capability and asked whether China was going to swim to Taiwan.
You were wrong when you asked about China's Y-20 airlift and completely overlooked China's existing IL-76 transport fleet.
You're playing word games with the Zumwalt cancellation.

I see three strikes (e.g. three wrongs) and further attempts to annoy me. You're just an airhead and not worth my time.

To be worthy of a response from me, you have to be right about your military insights. You laid three eggs in a row. Obviously, you have demonstrated that you're clueless. Instead, you try to mire me in semantics. I don't care about semantics. I care about military ideas. I'm a military enthusiast. Not a grammar enthusiast.

1. Taiwan does not have strategic depth. Contrary to your bizarre claim.
2. China has an IL-76 fleet. Not the Y-20 that you were focused upon.

I'm done wasting my time with your nonsense.

1.) You are wrong

2.) IL-76 payload is 60 tons, given a Type 99 MBT is 50 tons, that mean 1 tank can be carry each trip. And China current have 20 IL-76 with the option to go to 40. That mean a full sortie of IL-76 would see 40 tank across the channel, not even 1 battalion. So you are saying less than 1 battalion (40 tanks) can flatten Taiwan in 1 hour??

no,
you are wrong about Taiwan (despite you claim you lived in Taiwan)
you are wrong about IL-76
you have no idea even on island warfare
you have no idea on even how war was fought.
you are wrong about zumwalt
you even spell "Cancelled" wrong

You have 6 strikes against you my friend

@Martian2

Why not you just said China can nuke Taiwan and flatten it in 2 second? or EMP?? that more plausible. lol

again @Nihonjin1051 come take a look...

Did you just admit you were wrong about Taiwan's lack of strategic depth?

Why not admit you were wrong when I first pointed it out?

Why did I have to give you three separate citations?

Go back and read all of my posts. I'm right about those too. You might learn something.

he is living in USA

No, he isn't...he claim to be living in the US and Taiwan, and he absolutely know nothing about Taiwan and US (Nobody lived in Taiwan would say PLA can flatten Taiwan in 1 hour... It's just impossible. Even without opposition, it would take at least 2 hours for PLA to travel from west to east, unless they can drive a tank faster than I take HSR from Taichung (Taiwan West to Yilan (Taiwan East), cause that's the time I took for the HSR I think 2 hours 20 minutes if I remember correctly. Driving a car will take you about 4 to 5 hours. Tank can no way go faster than a car lol)

And he once claim FBI knock on his door in Boston for preaching pro China stuff on the internet, well, unless he lives in People Republic of North America, FBI have a lot better thing to do than to knock on some dude door just because he spilled garbage over the internet...

He's just said that to disinform people I guess, or he is really in America and FBI really do knock on his door lol, I don't know

lol you point out a dude saying Taiwan lack strategic depth and I say it isn't and I am wrong??

This PLA Admiral claim the American IQ have been boosted by Alien and if I say no, then I am wrong again??

張召忠:美國早與外星人有聯繫 智商被提升

(In English Admiral Zhang : American have connection to Alien technology a long time ago, IQ boosted by Alien)

He is an Admiral , then he must be right. So yeah, you are right and I am wrong, and we (American) were all connected to the Alien and have our IQ boosted, happy?

The only thing I actually learn in these post is you don't know how to spell "Cancelled", I am afraid

There is no war between china and taiwan~trust me!

The Pentagon, U.S. think tanks, and Neo-Cons believe it is a possibility.

The ex-Taiwanese defense minister thinks it's possible too.

If it does happen, my suggestion is for Taiwan to surrender within one hour (before the Chinese fighter jets cross the Taiwan Strait). This will result in no damage to Taiwan.

Taiwan really needs to sit out the China-US conflict. Let the two elephants fight. Taiwan can't make a difference and should pull a Switzerland (e.g. we're neutral).

Not only Taiwan is geographically vulnerable to China's strategic forces, but it is also politically vulnerable.

I wish for no war and I know Martian2 wishes for no war, either. Taking this thread as a strategic exercise, it can be said that whatever problem there is between the two said is to be sorted out bilaterally.

Being sorted out bilaterally means Taiwan has little strategic depth. And its political divisions inside (there is huge pro-unification and pro-PRC groups inside Taiwan although they are not as vocal as the indigenous and more passionate separatist groups) renders it vulnerable.

There will be no war except if Taiwan declared independence. In that case, China will finish the take over of Taiwan, something that it has completed politically by isolating it from every international political bodies.

The war will be quick like the Second Iraq War not because Taiwan has not prepared enough resistance, but because there won't be any unified resistance. A speedy take-over will ensure Taiwan remains largely intact.

Hopefully it won't come to that point. But if it did, China won't hesitate. The red line is independence. Other than that, China can sit the competition out. We have patience and time stands in our favor.

The major concern is foreign meddling. If the US perceives that it is losing the region to China (think of the myriad of China-led economic security initiatives), then it will incite radical factions inside Taiwan for an independence push. Then China will certainly take action. Short of it, Beijing is happy with the status quo.

You can tell the size of a man by the size of his (imaginary) enemies. In that same thread, Marty claimed to have lived through the 1970s, which would make him the same age as me -- early 50s. I should have screenshot that when I had the chance.

The PLA have no amphibious operations experience. Right now, even the swamp patrol of the Miami-Dade Sheriff Dept have more amphibious experience than the PLA. Taiwan can be seen as either a prize to be captured, or a convenient part of China that can be used as a lesson for domestic pacification, which have been the primary mission for the PLA for the last few decades anyway.

If Taiwan is a prize, then all the talk about raining missiles on the island is moot. The PLA must take the island as intact as possible, and that mean the population centers from towns to cities, the civil infrastructures, the capital generators, and the people. That mean a PLA amphibious force will be sitting -- or slowly moving -- (Peking) ducks in that 130 km travel. Marty does not seems to understand that water is not land. You can disperse and regroup 100 troops at your convenience on land but not on water. Taiwan have developed and have too much capital for China to destroy to serve as an example. Taiwan must be taken as intact as possible.

Taiwan is isolated politically. The balance of power is changing to the favor of China constantly with respect to cross-Straits equilibrium. If Taiwan declares independence, it will be re-unified. If not, US generals can speak of "yeah, kill them all" indefinitely. As if killing and destruction is a one-way street.

But at time it is good to know their sick mind.

The Zumwalt has been canceled after 3 copies. You're totally clueless.

Lol, the way that Martian dude look at thing does not looked like a person with even a developing mind, mind you, his profile in bloomberg claim to be a student in UMass...

The dude said to airdrop tank over the Taiwan strait and he think this way can flatten Taiwan lol, maybe we should ask PLA to hire this dude and see how "good" he can get PLA into..

Why do you and @gambit even give him the time? I never respond to Martian and this is why. The links he uses to support his positions offer information contrary to what he is trying to support. Case and point:

"The Zumwalt has been canceled after 3 copies. You're totally clueless."

Based on this link and screenshot that the Zumwalt program has been cancelled after only three boats... and yet the article doesn't ever say that!!! What the article does say is that the Zumwalt's christening, planned for Oct. 19 of 2013, was cancelled and postponed to a later date, which was true.

From the article he provided (screenshot and link above):

"The Navy announced today that the christening of the future USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000) originally scheduled for Oct. 19 has been cancelled and postponed until a future date."

The Navy announced that the christening was cancelled and postponed, not the program, the article doesn't say the program was cancelled!!!

The christening of DDG-1000 Zumwalt happened in April of 2014.

This past weekend in Bath, Maine, Ann Zumwalt and Mouzetta Zumwalt-Weathers, the daughters of Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, broke two ceremonial bottles of champagne on the gleaming bow of the future USS Zumwalt (DDG 1000), and officially christened this 21st century destroyer beginning a new chapter for both the ship and the history of U.S. Navy’s surface warfare fleet.

Postponing the christening does not mean the program has been cancelled

His supporting evidence doesn't support his position, the link he provided doesn't contain the information he's trying to offer. His position is wrong, his information false.

@waz - is there a forum rule against such blatant lack of reading comprehension? There should be. The information being presented by Martian2 is wrong, unsupported and the links he uses to support his position don't match the information he is trying to support.

Is there anything that can be done to ensure this doesn't happen again? It harms the credibility of the forum.

There will be no war. Period.

This:yahoo:!!!

lol, as i said a couple of post ago, the Navy does not cancelled the program, they just discontinued the ship line and prosponed the launch, iirc, his rely is, he is not a grammar enthusiast, he is a military enthusiast.

In his defence, cancelled and prosponed have the same lateral meaning in Chinese. So....i dont know

As a HUMINT operator, his post display a great deal of classic disinformation agent. You can literally see from the intention misleading argument and how he carry withhis argument and information process.

That said, the reason why I reply to him almost everytime is solely based on my curiosity on how low can he go and ho w much more crazy stuff he can get to post. My feedback is he is getting more entertaining by each post.

Case in point, have you notice his latest post about China spamming 100 missile to kill a single Arleigh Bruke class destroyer to try and overwhelm the defence?

I dont know about why @gambit want to reply to his post tho

Gentlemen, just ignore that troll. It is simple. There are many more sincere intellectual minds here that are worthy of our precious time.
