Swedens foreign minister in Vilnius: NATO membership would diminish defence cooperation with Finland

I mean , you are absolutely not interested in the Russian people, I learned only from this forum that there is a conflict with Sweden ^^
There is an age old rivalry with between Sweden and Russia.
It didn't start there, but the Russian attack on Sweden in the beginning of the Great Nordic War 1700,
Is a highlight in bad relations.
The invasion of Finland (which was a native part of Sweden) by Russia 1808 is another.
This resulted in a 100 year+ occupation of Finland.
Finland managed to free themselves during the Russian Revolution after a bloody civil war,
but the Soviet Union again tried to occupy Finland in the beginning of WW2.
The initial onslaught was beaten back by the Finns, with a few thousand Swedish volunteers as help,
but then the Soviet Union collected massive resources, and broke through the Finnish defenses.
The "peace" awarded the Soviet Union Karelia, where practically no Russians lived.
During the Cold War, the Soviet Union invaded Hungary, and Czechoslovakia.
They also sent agents pretending to sell paintings to ALL pilots in the Swedish Air Force,
obviously planning to assassinate them in the beginning of a conflict.

Now Russia invaded Georgia and Crimea and sent lots of equipment and men to bolster
East Ukrainan rebels.
I do not criticize behaviour in Chechnya , since the stupid inhabitants there first managed
to get their freedom, and they used that freedom to attack Russia.
They got what they deserved.

Right now we see that Russian propaganda attacks Sweden with outrageous claims
and interferes in our internal affairs, like whether we join NATO or not.
We also see that the Russia leadership is becoming more and more autocratic.

If Swedes are to approve of Russia, we need to see a change in the behavioural pattern.

Now Russia invaded Georgia

Russia intruded in Georgia? I think here you are mistaken, Russia protected North Ossetia from attack of Georgia, and forced Georgia to the world. I don't know that at you mass media speak, I write as it was actually as I lived there and all my relatives live in the Caucasus.

and Crimea:
With the Crimea everything is more difficult, capture of the Crimea is the response of Russia to actions of the USA in Ukraine.

War which was in 1700 not an indicator, the world changes very quickly.

You dont get it do you?
Putin is trying to revive his old defunct Soviet union. What he doesn't understand is that times have changed, and Russia is not as powerful as the Soviet union was. So he will keep pushing his luck until he is met with a response. Then he might pause and have some thoughts. If we dont do anything and just let Russia keep up wiht their aggression/bullying of small defenceless Baltic states andpeaceful Scandinavian countries, then believe me, Putin will swallow them all up. He has to know that any more threat of invasion into the Baltics will be met with a collctive NATO response. The Ukraine/Crimea issue already woke NATO up. Which i think is agood thing, as it shows NATO serves a real purpose and will only solidify the allaince and make new members who wouldnt have joined to think of join.ing for thier own sake.:enjoy:

I am referring to the Russo-Georgian war of 2008 where South Ossetia and Abchazia
(Considered part of Georgia by most countries) was and is occupied by Russia,
to support local rebels.

Much like the behaviour in Ukraine, where first Russia tried to blackmail
Ukraine not to sign the agreement with the EU,
and when the President gave way to Russia, the people would not have it,
and protested. When he responded with violence he was soon a goner.
Russia tried to claim that the country was taken over by Nazis,
but elections showed that the Nazi parties only got a few percent of the votes,
but Russia keep talking about Nazis.
For certain the rulers of Ukraine is against Russia - NOW.

I agree that 1700 is a long time ago, but year 2015 Russian propagandistas
write articles about Sweden wanting a revenge for the lost Battle of Poltava 1709.
Noone here could care less about that one but there is a general agreement
that Russia is up to no good

He personally told it to you?:)
Take more, he wants all galaxy and to be Darth Vader

Vladimir Putin assured that Russia doesn't try "to restore the empire and the Soviet Union".
"This wrong opinion, also I think that it not that is true, and that is the instrument of information fight", - Putin at a press conference in St. Petersburg declared.
To us try to paste this label - that we are going to restore the empire, the Soviet Union, to subordinate all to the influence. It isn't true at all, - the Russian president notes.

Most countries could even stand on his head . Most of the countries the United States is a mongrel .
Ossetians and Abkhazians , you ask? whether they want to be a part of Georgia ? )

Crimea to join Russia without a single shot

it seems to me except for you and teachers of history , no one remembers about the Battle of Poltava in 1700 :)
